HISTORY

In 2014, history was made when Balai Carmela opened


its doors. The iconic resort and events place soon became
the city's venue of choice for glittering balls, marriage
ceremonies and party gatherings, making the name Balai
Carmela with “place to be”. With this auspicious
beginning, Balai Carmela Resorts and Events brand was
born.

A shed of light materials located in a spot distant


from the city, away from the crowds formerly known as
Lifestyle Villa, and the resort initially operates a
pool, an open function hall and few rooms. It has
expanded and later upgraded in July of 2014 when the
power couple Dr. Valeriano Combate Jr. & Dra. Maria Raul
Carmela Combate decided to buy the property and took over
the management having named the resort after her - “Balai
Carmela”. A Balinese inspired resort to cater to your
every need. A spot at the heart of the city but proud of
its ambiance and private personalized services, designed
to give our guests maximum comfort and convenience. A

HOUSE RULES AND REGULATIONS

3. Before going out, please turn off all the lights,


aircon and running

water. Lock the door and leave the room key at the
reception counter.

4. The Management will not be liable for any loss, or


other damage claims

or obligations resulting from any injuries or losses both


inside and in the

immediate vicinity outside the facility. Take care of


your belongings.

The Management will not be liable for any loss, or


other damage claims or obligations resulting from any
injuries or losses both inside and in the immediate
vicinity outside the facility. Take care of your
belongings and personal safety should be observed.

This is a Public Area the use of tobacco or smoking-


related products is prohibited within all buildings,
facilities, and spaces (including covered walkways,
parking lots, and commons) in accordance with Republic
Act No. 9211.

Do not bring into the resort: weapons, narcotic,


explosive, toxic and inflammable products.

It is the duty of every citizen to keep his


environment or surroundings clean and wholesome; trash
bins are provided; we encourage proper waste disposal.
It’s not cool to litter.

Guests must maintain peace and serenity within the


resort at all times. Videoke, Sound System and/or other
devices emitting disturbing noise must be turned off
after 10:00 pm. The use of Videoke, Sound System and/or
other devices inside the villas and hotel rooms are
prohibited.

The Management will not allow any guests for a Pool


Party inside the Valeriano’s Hall for it is tiled and
slippery when wet and/or to sit on the Sala Sets while
still wet and dripping; the Renter shall take full
responsibility on any damages that may occur.

attendance and to see that orderly conduct is maintained
both inside and in the immediate vicinity outside the
facility. The management has the right to charge and do

Alcoholic Beverages inside your Rented Villas and


Hotel Rooms are strictly prohibited. Any damages that
will arise in violation of this rule will be charged

CONCLUSION

The On-The-Job training is the best way to learn the


housekeeping operation in a hotel. The trainees have
learned the standard operating procedure, their work
tasks, the responsibilities they have as hotel trainees
and their part to undertake work efficiently and
effectively.

Learning outside the four corners of a room made the


trainees learn more of the housekeeping department, its
function, the personnel s behind it and how to become an
effective hotel employee.

The experience they have had enhanced their


knowledge of the housekeeping operation and experiencing
it personally. They have experienced to be part of the
largest work force in every hotel establishment----the
housekeeping department.

It was an experience which we will be going to treasure


forever as it provided us with the many significant
things that will make us improve whatever we have now. As
we move forward to a new journey, we take with us all the
learnings, life-teachings, self-realizations, and
principles that we have gathered within that short span
of time at the Balai Carmela.

LEARNING INSIGHTS

In the more than 40 hours of our On-The-Job


training, I can say that I have learned a lot. I was able
to discover many things that I have not yet encountered
before. I have experienced to work as a team and always
be accountable to the outcome of the task given to them.
I have learned to manage my time and effort to undertake
tasks and to be flexible enough to perform my work as
hotel trainee.

In the guestrooms, I had learned to make-up the bed;


clean the room and the bathroom and set-up a room
according to the Balai Carmela standards. I had also
learned the different room set-up in every floor. I had
also learned the different linens used when making-up a
bed, learned the proper manners and courtesy towards the
guest and learned how to become an effective room
attendant.

In the public area, I learned the tasks done in


every area of the hotel. I learned that general mopping
and polishing of the lobby should done at midnight to
avoid accidents; hotel perimeter should always be clean
all the time, glass doors and walls should also be
immaculately clean and that the different furniture and
fixtures should be treated and used with the right
chemical, tools and equipment like the floor polisher,
wax stripper, wood and metal polish and the vacuum
cleaner.

Another aim of the trainees during the internship is


to perform the standard operating procedure of the hotel.
I have learned the SOP of the hotel in rooms, public
areas and in the linen and laundry area. In the
guestroom, they learned the standard room set-up of the
rooms in every floor, learned the standard in making-up
the bed, the bathroom cleaning standard and when cleaning
the whole room. I learned the SOP in the public area and
performed it effectively and efficiently. Public area has
SOP’s like general lobby cleaning; mopping, polishing and
vacuuming of the carpets is done at midnight; perimeter
and guest comfort room should be done every 30 minutes.

During their training, the trainees have learned the


standard operating procedures implemented in the hotel
and had performed it with the best i can.
