Midsem Report
Objective: The objective of the website is to manage the hostels(Satluj and Beas) of
IIT Ropar(students,Issues,facilities) digitally and resolve issues as efficiently as possible.
About Project
In this project we will create a website for managing data of hostels(Satluj and Beas) of IIT
Ropar which will result in better and smooth functioning of hostels and better complain
processing .On our website the first page is the home page which contains some photographs of
the hostels of IIT Ropar and a URL link of the official website of IIT Ropar. After that we have
a feedback page which contains lots of information.. In this manner we are creating a digital
platform for addressing the various problems occurring in hostels.
Details of project
The website is prepared by frontend and backend development. This website will contain all the
information about hostels such as number of rooms, chairs, tables, almirah etc. And it also
contains details about students. If any problem in materials or lack of anything mentioned above
students can put their complaint or feedback on the website. To query, a student needs to login
by entering their name and entry number. If a student wants to complain about any issue, he/she
can put it through the feedback section in the website. All the queries will be further proceeded
to the hostel caretaker and corresponding authority for the resolution. The website aims at proper
functioning and maintenance of hostels in a digital manner and aims to resolve the problem as
soon as possible.
Framework of Website
The website consists of Dark background with a navigation bar with four tabs-
Home,Login,Feedback,About respectively.The programming languages used are HTML,CSS
and JAVASCRIPT. HTML is used for the basic layout of the website,css is used for the styling
of the website and JAVASCRIPT is used for performing certain actions.
Login Page
We have a login page in which a student can login by entering his/her name and entry number.
Structure(Login Page): The structure of the login page includes a login form in which a
student can enter the website by entering his details.
Upon entering the wrong details,it displays the following message.

Feature:The login page serves the function of directing the person to the main website of IIT
Ropar
Sources/Approach:We have planned on taking the details of the students from the respective
caretakers of the hostels.
Home Page
Structure: The structure of home page has a slideshow followed by some icons
Feature:The feature of home page is to give a glimpse of the website.
Feedback Page
Structure:On this page we have provided a tab for various issues such as lighting, fan, chairs,
almirah, lift, washbasin, water ( cold and hot ) etc.
Feature: Students can select the type of issue that they are facing from these options and can
give detailed information about it in the feedback section.
Sources/Approach:These complaints raised by the students will be directly proceeded to the
related authority or caretaker of the hostel.
About Page
Structure:The about Page is a description about IIT Ropar and its hostels.
Feature: It guides one to the main website of IIT Ropar using hyperlink.
Sources/Approach:The information has been obtained from the main website of IIT Ropar.
Completed Components
The frontend part of the website, which depicts the layout of the website is mostly done with
the help of HTML and CSS programming language. The home page has been created which
displays the slideshow which depicts the college followed by some icons which have been
styled by CSS. The login form and feedback form have been created for the students so that
they can address their problems and view their details. The about page has been created which
gives the people a glimpse about the hostels( Satluj and Beas) of IIT Ropar and a hyperlink is
also provided to direct one to the official website of IIT Ropar for further information. The
backend data of login page has been created and the feedback page has been linked with
google sheets
Components to be Added
The lost and found page need to be developed, login page needs to be improvised and overall
designing of website needs to be done using CSS. We need to develop a system which will
provide notification to caretaker for every feedback received on the google form.

The development of backend through google sheets is done and the
