On the first day of February 2022, I began to record data on three stocks in the stock market.

I had
chosen these stocks the previous month and invested $10,000 among the three. This was a semester
long project that required daily updates and tracking of total investments. The stock project taught me
how to wisely choose stocks, the importance of managing your stocks on a regular basis, and to go into
the market with a strategy. I now know that there is a high possibility that you will lose money when
investing in stocks as nothing is set in stone when it comes to the stock market.

Overall, this project has made me realize that the stock market is risky, it is like gambling, and there is
always a possibility that your stocks will cause you to become poor if you invest all your money. After
four months of doing this project, I do not think that I will invest in the stock market. If I were to invest, I
would not invest more money than I could use for a big vacation. While the stock market can make you
money, it can also put your savings in jeopardy. I believe that the stock market is comparable to a game,
it is competitive, unpredictable, and you never know if you will “win.”

I chose to invest in Costco Wholesale Corporation, Kroger Co, and Chevron Corporation. In the four
months that I have been tracking these companies' stocks, I have made a total of $544.45. With a total
number of 17 shares, my stock in Kroger ended with a total of $923.61. This stock has done well as this
is about $200 more than what this stock started with. My stock in Chevron also did well with a total of
$2,773.72, I invested the same number of shares in this company as I did in Kroger and both stocks have
gained throughout this project. Although my stock in Costco did the best for the majority of this project,
towards the end its numbers went down as it ended with a total of $6,847.12 which was about $300 less
than what it started with. I think that Chevron did well as it is a gas company and gas is currently high in
price, however, I am not sure why Kroger gained, and Costco didn’t when Costco sells gas, clothes, and
food while Kroger is a grocery store.

My strategy going into this project was to invest in places that sold gas, this is why I chose Chevron and
part of the reason I chose Costco. The other part of my strategy was to invest in popular stores that are
common everyday use for families as people will always need to buy food, therefore I invested in
Kroger, and Costco. If I were to do this project again, I would invest in another gas company instead of
Kroger as gas will be in high demand for many years to come. Although my Costco stock ended on a bad
note, I would still choose to invest in it because I believe that it will go back up as it did very well for
most of this project. Overall, my strategy would be similar to my original one, but I would focus more on
gasoline companies.

While this project may have been unpredictable, it taught me to be smart with my money and what I
choose to invest in. I now know that I have the ability to choose companies that I support and believe
will do well and have a chance to make money. Although I know that I have this chance, I do not think I
will take it as I believe that it is risky, and I am not willing to lose my hard-earned money for a chance to
make a little more. This project not only taught me about the stock market, but it showed me that it is
important to stay up to date with your savings and what you choose to invest your money in. Without
keeping track of your stocks, you will never know when you should sell, which can result in a great loss
of savings.
