for Exploding Kittens!

I’ve been a huge fan of Exploding Kittens since last summer, and during lockdown I got my whole
family into it! In anticipation of the release of Barking Kittens, we came up with our own ideas for
cards, and through play-testing, and reprinting, we have re ned this small project into a cohesive
expansion that’s sure to heat up your Exploding Kittens experience!

This document contains detailed instructions for each card, and instructions at the end on how
you can get these cards printed for yourselves!

Expansion Breakdown

2x Super Nope: The ultimate nope! Stop the action of another player. No
other player may play a nope on top.

For 2-4 players, add 1 Super Nope

For 5+ players, add 2 Super Nopes

1x Last Resort: The ultimate targeted attack! End your turn and force the
player of your choice to take two turns. No attack or nope can be played on
top. The way to get around this would be to play Skips, Reverses, Super
Skips etc.

Pro Tip: save this devastating card for the end game, when people keep
stacking attacks!

1x Black Hole: The set up mechanics are like that of the Exploding Kittens:
shuf e this card into the draw pile after cards have been dealt to all players.

When drawn face down, put back into the deck face up. When drawn face
up, shuf e all the cards in your hand back into the draw pile. If you have no
cards in your hand and draw this card, discard the Black Hole card, and
shuf e the deck.

3x Fossil Restoration: shuf e any non-kitten card (so no Exploding,

Imploding, Streaking, or Barking Kitten) from the discard pile back into the
draw pile, and end your turn.

A good way to get Defuses back into the game!

3x Back from the Dead: you can play this when someone has just
exploded. Randomly draw two cards off the person who just exploded
(cannot be the Streaking Kitten).

3x Sneak Peek: choose a player and randomly pick three of their cards to
look at.

Pro Tip: this is a good way to scope out cards you suspect a player may
have (like a Streaking or Barking Kitten)! And great for the endgame to
plan your moves!

2x Purrfect Boost: play this with an appropriate card to add a +1 to its

effect.

e.g. See the Future 3x becomes 4x. Play this with Back from the Dead to
draw 3 cards off your opponent. Play this with Draw from the Bottom to
draw 2 cards from the bottom of the draw pile.

fl

3x Copycat: this cards acts as a replica of the last played card (i.e. the card
on top of the discard pile). Cannot replicate a Defuse or regular cat cards.

e.g. someone just play a Nope on you? Copycat it and turn it into a Yup!
Someone just play a Personal Attack? Copycat it and draw three cards for
yourself too!

How to Use These Cards!

The cards in this expansion were speci cally designed to t in place with your regular EK deck. So
from the front, they match perfectly with the of cial cards! In order to integrate these cards with
your regular deck, I recommend using sleeves. This will also make your cards much more
durable. I speci cally recommend the Ultra Pro Eclipse Matte Card Sleeves, which can be found
on Amazon here.

How to Print Your Own Copy!

In order to match the quality of the of cial EK cards, we need to print this expansion on
professional playing card stock. I recommend MakePlayingCards.com. On the home page,
choose “Custom Game Cards,” then make sure you choose the portrait Traditional Size (63.5 x
88.9 mm) — this is the same size as regular EK cards.

After that, you’ll be asked to specify card materials, nishes, etc. Here are the options I used:
- Card stock: (M31) Linen
- Size of deck: Up to 18 cards
- Print type: Full color print
- Finish: MPC game card nish
- Packaging: Shrink-wrapped
With these options, I found that the printed cards are a slightly lighter stock compared to the
of cial EK cards, but in sleeves, the differences are indistinguishable. However, feel free to look
through MPC’s details to see what the differences between each option are.

Next, you’ll be designing the card fronts. Make sure you choose the “Different Images” option
under “Image & Text.” The .png les of the cards I have provided are in the exact dimensions as
needed by MPC. Simply upload the pictures, and drag them on to the card fronts on the website.
Make sure to create the right number of copies for each card, as speci ed in the Expansion
Breakdown.

Following that, you’ll be designing the card backs. In this case, you can choose “Same image”
since all the cards will have the same back design. Upload “cardBack.png,” and drag it onto the
template on the website.

Make sure to preview the deck, and check that you have the right number of copies of each card,
then go ahead and order it!

The deck should cost ~$9 + shipping.

Of course, feel free to design your own cards, and get them printed too! I’ve provided a .psd le
of one of the cards in this expansion. If you want to get your own custom cards printed, make
sure to use the MPC design template, which can be found by scrolling down on the page where
you chose the card materials. Simply drag and drop your customCard.psd on to the template.psd
document provided by MPC. (Make sure you hide their template layer, and add a blank white
layer below!)
