Parts of the Windows Desktop Screen
1. Icons. A small picture or image that represents an object or
program and functions as a shortcut.
2. Start Button. Contains the list of all computer programs
installed are ready to use.
3. Quick Launch Icons. Located beside the start button this
provides easy access to computer programs.
4. Taskbar. This displays the different programs and files being
used.
5. Startup Icons. These programs are activated when the
computer is turned on. These programs are always active and
is placed in the RAM for easy access by the computer.

Command Prompt
The main function
of command
prompt is to run MS
DOS commands. It
can be found in the
Windows System
folder.

It is a computer program that is

Language (HTML) programs. It
is used by computer
programmers to type programs
or EULA (End User License
Agreement). It is located in the
Windows Accessories folder.
Wordpad
It is a word
processing
program in
Windows that is
similar to Microsoft
Word. Just like
Notepad it is also
located in the
Windows
Accessories folder.

Paint
It is a computer
program in
Windows that allows
users to create
images. It can also
be found in the
Windows
Accessories folder.

Disk Cleanup
This computer
software cleans
unnecessary files in
the computer system.
It can be found in the
Windows
Administrative Tools
folder.

Defragment and Optimize Drives
This computer software combines related files and programs to provide
faster access. It can be found in the Windows Administrative Tools
folder.
Run
It literally runs
executable
programs in
the computer.
It can be found
in the

System folder.

Control Panel
This allows users to
view and manipulate
basic system settings
and controls. It can be
found in the Windows
System folder.

Action Center
Under System and Security this is where you can see the action to be
taken such as updating the operating system.

Part of System and
Security that allows you to
see the version of
Windows, processor
speed and capacity of
Random Access Memory
(RAM).
Device Manager
This contains the
different computer
parts that were
installed.

Programs and Features
This can be found under Programs this is where you can see the list of
all computer programs that were installed. This is also the location in
which you can uninstall software.

User Accounts
This allows you to add and remove user accounts.

Ease of Access
This part of the Control
Panel assists persons
who are visually impaired
and/or hearing impaired
in using the computer. It
has a magnifier to
enlarge the image on-
screen and narrator to
speak the words on the
screen.
On-screen Keyboard
Found in Ease of
Access this activates
the keyboard on your
screen. This can be
used in case there is a
malfunction of the
keyboard.

Google Chrome
History. This shows you all the websites that were visited.
