Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to explore the causes and reasons of poverty in Egypt and the

complex relationship between employments, investment, education and poverty. The macro

economic analysis backed with quantitative data and statistical techniques is presented in this

paper. The paper also presents the study of demography and social economic factors leading to

poor economic condition of Egyptians. We start with understanding the overall health of the

economy with various indicators along with macro economic factors so that the macro level

policy recommendations are suggested. One of the peculiarities of the Egyptian economy is the

geographical spread of the population. Almost 95% of the population lives around the banks of

river Nile and puts a lot of stress on the natural resource. Apart from the geographical challenges,

the poverty in Egypt owes to low education, corruption and poor governance by the government.

The problem of poverty can be tackled by creation of job along with social reforms as

compliment to the robust economic policies or all regions of the country.
