INRTODUCTION
Industrial training is referred to as a program that offers good practical training in the specified
time frame. It is offered by private companies as well as by the government organizations.
To procure all business activities in a streamlined manner, they are supported by a team
of diligent employees who explicit skills in confined dominions. In order to bring ease
and simplicity in task execution, the workers work in astute harmony and shares a healthy
coordination amongst each other. The team is able enough to supplicate the snowballing
engrossment of the market with moving in pave with time. It is the team’s constitutive
force which drives the company apart from the common marketers.
They have built alliances with most allied and authenticated vendors of the market who
source eminent quality raw material for manufacturing and packaging purposes.
COMPANY HEADED BY
Mr. R. Vidyaprakash is the man who drives through the entire business activities
of Coimbatore Potteries & Refractories. He is the active partner in the company and
percolate throughout the business by keenly performing as a vigilant and observer. He
always insists on surpassing his ideas and innovation to all employees of the employees
for better results and growth. As being the mentor, he enthusiastically manages and
governs each business task with his ability and make sure whether production in addition
to other activities is going on hand in hand or not.
SCOPE OF INTERNSHIP
It helps to understand about various factors and activities which are assigned to various people in
Finance department. Internship helps to gain knowledge about the real-life situations faced by
finance employees in each stage of work. It provides a chance to see the practical constraints faced
by the manager while putting theory into practice. Internship helps to maintain personal contact
with the organization. It is also very beneficial because they provide both theoretical and practical
knowledge regarding various aspects of financial management and their implication.
REFRACTORY PRODUCTS
A refractory material or refractory is a material that is resistant to decomposition by heat,
pressure, or chemical attack, and retains strength and form at high temperatures. Refractories
are polycrystalline, polyphase, inorganic, non-metallic, porous, and heterogeneous. They are
typically composed of oxides or carbides, nitrides etc. of the following
materials: silicon, aluminium, magniseum, calcium, boron, chromium and zirconium. Refractory
materials are used in furnaces, kilns, incinerators, and reactors. Refractories are also used to
make crucibles and moulds for casting glass and metals and for surfacing flame deflector systems
for rocket launch structures. Today, the iron and steel industry and metal casting sectors use
approximately 70% of all refractories produced.
Refractories play a critical role in the daily operations of almost every sector of manufacturing.
These ceramic materials are essential for all heat-intensive production processes. Without
refractories, important industries and the products they produce would not exist. Whether it is the
ambulances we drive, the hospitals we use, the roads we rely on, the medical equipment that we
need, the communications tools we use, the waste we need to incinerate, or the medicines we
take, the world we know would not exist without refractories.
In the context of COVID-19, our customers in the steel, aluminum, copper, glass, chemicals,
energy, waste management and pulp & paper industries are directly responsible for supplying the
primary materials used to produce desperately needed items such as hospital beds, ambulances,
respirators, face masks, and other medical devices. Their production processes cannot occur
without refractories, even in the short term.
Refractories will always be an essential industry that is vital to the manufacturing of countless
goods that ensure the safety and security of our global community. As governing bodies across
the globe continue to assess industries, the refractories industry must be placed within this
essential business category.
ABOUT THE WORLD REFRACTORIES ASSOCIATION
World Refractories Association is a forum to debate regulatory issues affecting global trade,
circulate aggregated industry statistics, and promote the interests of the worldwide refractory
industry. It also serves as a counterpart to other world industry organizations. The WRA currently
consists of six major refractory industry associations and 16 multinational companies.
2.Withstanding physical stresses and preventing erosion of vessel walls due to the hot medium
Refractories have multiple useful applications. In the metallurgy industry, refractories are used for
lining furnaces, kilns, reactors, and other vessels which hold and transport hot mediums such as
metal and slag. Refractories have other high temperature applications such as fired heaters,
hydrogen reformers, ammonia primary and secondary reformers, cracking furnaces, utility boilers,
catalytic cracking units, air heaters, and sulfur furnaces.
Basically, the refractory industry uses many refractory materials. Such as high alumina refractory
cement, fire clay bricks, refractory tiles, and insulation bricks.
Hence, many industries require these types of refractory materials for their daily operations. Below
is a list of all the industries that uses refractory products.
The steel and iron industry’s primary materials for their operations are refractory materials. For
example, using refractory monolithic for heat control to make iron and steel.
Also, this industry also needs refractory industry solutions for other applications as well. Such as
to hold and transport metal and slag, furnace lining to heat steel, and in flues where there are hot
gases.
2. REFRACTORIES SOLUTIONS FOR ALUMINUM INDUSTRY
Refractory contractors are often called for refractory material installation for the aluminum
industry.
Generally, aluminum processes include melting, refining, treating, and processing aluminum
products and scraps. Hence, these furnaces need the right refractory materials for each stage.
Since aluminum has a high oxygen affinity, the potential reactions can cause corundum at the
surface lining. Hence, this industry depends highly on high-quality refractory bricks for
the durable refractory lining.
3. GLASS INDUSTRY
The glass industry primarily deals with thermal and chemical attacks in its furnaces. This will
badly impact the superstructure of the furnace. Resulting in severe damage to glass production.
Therefore, use only the best refractory material to safely prevent any damages. Such as heat and
chemical destruction of the furnace lining.
Furthermore, hire expert refractory lining contractors. So your glass processes do not face extreme
heat changes, affecting the glass quality.
As the power generation industry evolves, so have refractory installation companies. This is
because supplying any type of power to the world involves many processes.
Therefore, controlling the heat processes needs knowledge from a skilled refractory installation
contractor. For example, extracting energy from coal needs strong boiler refractory to protect
against thermal shocks.
Refineries, chemical, and petrochemical plants need particular refractory castable. This is so it can
maintain the refinery and hydrocarbon processes involved.
Besides that, the right solutions can reduce the refractory lining consumption rate. Such as in fired
heaters, catalytic reactors, sulfur burners, and gasifiers.
Likewise, these plants must plan to lessen running costs and their carbon footprint. Hence, they
demand long-term refractory lining stability.
6. INCINERATION
Primarily for waste incineration, suitable refractory linings can prolong the service life and
maintenance of the overall plant equipment.
Also crucial, incinerators face high temperatures and intense processes. Hence, the rotary furnaces
and combustion chambers need efficient heat transfers. The right monolithic refractory can solve
this by protecting against aggressive environments.
Another industry that needs reliable refractory solutions is the cement industry. The reason being
the common operational problems that occur in cement processing plants.
Some of them include thinning of refractory lining, alkali build-up, and intense thermal shocks that
can create spalling.
Thus, durable refractory applications can protect kilns, burner pipes, coolers, and other equipment.
As a result, the processing output will not drop due to weak refractory.
Fundamentally, lime burning processes include converting limestone into calcium oxide and
carbon dioxide. So, equipment such as rotary kilns and shafts requires high-performance refractory
linings.
With the right refractory design, the preheating, cooling, and burning zones are safely controlled.
All in all, the strong refractory solutions can maintain optimum lime production.
VISION
To be a national full-service refractory leader consistently recognized for growth across industries
and geographies, creating value for its customers through high-quality and on-time delivery of our

• Technological obsolescence.
• Fragmented industry.
The institutional training under gone in Coimbatore Potteries & Refractories is very
useful to know the activities of various departments like purchase, production, etc. It was helpful
to observe the various functions in the organization and learn its day-to-day activities. It was very
useful to increase the practical knowledge about the refractory industry. I learnt about the
production process which helps me to increase the knowledge and skills about an organization. It
motivates me to start a new business in the future.
