Skipper: Welcome to the Surf Shack surfers and parents!!!

I’m Skipper,
owner of the grooviest surf shack around. And this here is my little
buddy, Snappy. He’s our crab-tastic lifeguard.

Snappy: Hey skip. I’m feeling a little sad tonight.

Skipper: Why’s that Snappy??

Snappy: Well, you see, it’s the last night for all of us to hang out and
ride some seriously awesome waves together.

Skipper: Snap out of it Snappy. We’re here to celebrate the cool stuff
we’ve done this week. How about a joke to get you in the mood.

Snappy: Oh, ok. I could use a good joke.

Skipper: Ok, so what is a crab’s favorite sandwich?

Snappy: Being a crab, I should know this one... um… umm… I don’t
know.

Skipper: A clam and cheese sandwich!!!

Snappy: That was corny. I have one… How do shellfish get to the
hospital?

Skipper: Gee I don’t know, snappy, how do shellfish get to the hospital?

Snappy: In a clambulance.

Skipper: And you said my joke was corny.

Snappy: These jokes have really cheered me up. So what did you have
in mind for our last day of Surf Shack?

Skipper: That’s a great question. I was thinking we could tell stories of

our favorite memories from this week.

Snappy: That’s a great idea, but we have some new faces. Don’t you
think we should tell them what we did this week?

Skipper: Sure thing. Let’s see if our surfers can remember our Pop-Up
verse for the week. The hint is “remember”.

Audience: Remember that the Lord is great and awesome!”

Snappy: Crab-tastic!!!

Skipper: Alright surfers, turn to your parents or a friend and tell them a
way that the Lord is great and awesome. (Let the surfers talk to each
other for a minute). Snappy, what is one way that the Lord is great and
awesome.

Snappy: Every morning I get to come be a lifeguard and see the ocean
and the beautiful waves and awesome sun rises. It reminds me that
God is a creator.

Skipper: That’s right, snappy. God creates!

Snappy and audience: Awesome!

Skipper: Hey surfers, what are some things we learned that God
created? (Let the surfers name some of God’s creation).
Snappy: God is such an awesome creator. And you guys named some
great creations. Give a big shaka to everyone!!

Skipper: For our new dudes, a shaka is a sign that means many different
things, like “Good job,” “hang loose,” “it’s all good,” “thank you,” and
“no worries.”

Snappy: That’s a lot of meanings for one little hand motion.

Skipper: Definitely. That’s what makes it fun.

Snappy: So we learned about shakas, and that God creates…

Skipper: Awesome!!!!

Snappy: ... so what else did our awesome surfers learn this week?

Skipper: On day two, we learned about the original surfer.

Snappy: Oh yeah! Moses! But he wasn’t a surfer!

Skipper: True, but he did ride in a basket down the Nile River, so it’s
kinda like surfing. Surfers, do you remember why he rode down the
Nile? Wait for answers. That’s right, to escape being killed by the
Egyptians.

Snappy: So God helped Miriam keep Moses alive??

Skipper: Yep. God helps.

Snappy and surfers: Amazing!!!!

Snappy: Hey surfers, tell your parents or a friend ways that God helps
us.

Skipper: I heard some really fantastic ways that God helps.

Snappy: Amazing!!!!! How about a big shaka!!! On the third day, we

learned another way that God is amazing. We learned that when Jesus
was baptized by John the Baptist, something awesome and wonderful
happened.

Skipper: Are you talking about the light from Heaven coming down on
Jesus???

Snappy: You bet. God said that Jesus was his Son, that He loved him,
and that he was pleased with him.

Skipper: So, we learned that God loves!

Snappy: Amazing!!! And God shows us he loves us in a really special

way.

Skipper: I bet you are talking about the way that God gave up his only
Son so that we are forgiven when we do things wrong.

Snappy: That is an amazing way to show love. Say Skipper, do you

remember the terrible storm we had yesterday? I had to clear the
beach because of the lightning and the thunder.

Skipper: That was a very bad storm. Did you happen to see the ocean
during the storm?

Snappy: I sure did. The winds made the waves tall and fierce. They
crashed in a loud bang too.
Skipper: I hope there weren’t any surfers out there.

Snappy: or boats. Those were some gnarly waves. It reminds me of the

story of Jesus in the boat. The one where he was sleeping.

Skipper: Oh yeah, I remember that story. A bad storm blew up while

Jesus was sleeping. The waves crashed over the side of the boat, and
those that were with him thought the boat would sink.

Snappy: That would be really scary. I know I’d be worried.

Skipper: Yep. They all were. So they woke Jesus. And he did something
amazing. He calmed the storm.

Snappy: So God calms?

Skipper: Amazing!!! Those were our wave words yesterday.

Snappy: Wow, we’ve learned a lot about what God is like. And, these
surfers have done some pretty cool things. Why don’t you tell us what
your favorite part of this week has been. (Go around the room).

Skipper: Snappy, you know what my favorite part was?

Snappy: What skipper?

Skipper: Getting to ride the waves with these surfers. Let’s catch one
more big wave. Alright everyone, paddle out to the ocean. When you
are ready, ride that wave to shore!!!

Snappy: That was the best surfing I’ve seen all week. I sure am going to
miss seeing you guys. I hope you have a wonderful school year, and
that you will come back and see us again next year.
Skipper: Yep. And if you see one of us, give us a big Shaka!!!!
