ABCD Is A Parallelogram. (Maybe Not To Scale) - Solve For X

The document defines a parallelogram as a quadrilateral where both pairs of opposite sides are parallel. It then lists six properties of parallelograms: 1) both pairs of opposite sides are parallel, 2) consecutive angles are supplementary, 3) opposite angles are congruent, 4) if one angle is a right angle all angles are right angles, 5) opposite sides are congruent, and 6) the diagonals bisect each other. The document goes on to provide 18 problems involving parallelograms where the reader is asked to solve for variables.

Parallelogram Name ____________________

per __ date ________

Definition: a quadrilateral in which both pairs of opposite sides are parallel. Because of that, we
can prove that every parallelogram has the following set of properties:
a. both pairs of opposite sides are parallel (of course, by definition); and
b. consecutive angles are supplementary,
c. opposite angles are congruent,
d. if there is one right angle, then all the angles are right,
e. opposite sides are congruent, and
f. the diagonals bisect each other.
Lots of opportunities for algebra here.
