Field Research

Project Concept

OBridge Platform offers a service that will help applicants, manual workers who want to find
overseas jobs, and recruiters to be linked and to communicate easily and quickly. OBridge
focuses on sharing job vacancies that are located outside of Indonesia. Moreover, our
platform offers several features which are; Complaint feature, get to know feature, OBridge
learning feature, and information feature. This platform also provides one program which is
O'Training which allows the applicants to join seminars or workshops that could develop
them individually and also enhance their knowledge and skills. OBridge, like professional
employment platforms, would help match applications and companies by leveraging a
swipe/pass system that allows applicants and businesses to complete the initial stages of
hiring more quickly. It's simple to use, transparent, and the domestic employees don't have to
pay any placement fees.

Interview Result

The results of this interview are dominated by young people around 20 years old with a high
school education background. All the respondents we interviewed answered that they had
thought about trying to work abroad with several hopes, such as adding friends, getting a
bigger salary that could help support their family to get a safe place to live, and seeking
experience with living in another country. Behind the great expectations they have, they feel
some concern when they try to apply for jobs abroad. Differences in language and culture are
factors of concern that they often think about because language is something they need to
communicate. Lack of knowledge about what the worker has to do and where they need to go
when they arrive at their destination country is also one of the worries they have, as well as
bad thoughts that emerged about the possibility of fraud that could even be one of the modes
for human trafficking.

When asked about a platform that can help them apply for menial jobs abroad without paying
a placement fee, most of them feel that it is a good opportunity for the existing unemployed.
They said that this platform would be beneficial in providing them with information about the
jobs available, especially if the platform is trustworthy. Although there is some doubt that
manual work could be this easy since there might be high competition among non-foreign
workers. That is why some of the interviewees prefer to apply for jobs at local agents who are
trusted and have clear integrity when they want to try working abroad. However, some of
them also feel that local agencies are not the right choice for them because of their inability to
pay fees to local agencies that provide jobs abroad.

The following are some of the features they hope to have on a platform that can help apply
for menial jobs abroad without having to pay a placement fee:

● Detailed description and proof that the job is valid or not suspicious (indication of
fraud)
● features that teach the cultures that exist in the country of work destination

Suppose the platform that has been mentioned exists. In that case, most of the respondents are
willing to use the platform to find work abroad because of the ease of finding information
about jobs even though there is some time needed to compare this application with other
competitors.

After conducting a series of interviews regarding the perspectives of potential customers of


the OBridge Platform, the following are some suggestions to help us improve the
performance and quality of the business that we will create. First, Prioritizing security and
credibility is the primary key in the platform that will be created. Second, The existence of
skills training and the provision of detailed information for people who want to go to work
abroad.

Implication

Based on the interview result, we understand the need of our potential customers from the
applicants' side that the existence of this service (OBridge Platform) could be the answer for
their current problem: difficulty in finding a transparent job, expensive placement fee, and
lack of information regarding the employers, culture as well as the work environment in the
designated country. Even though that was the case, those potential customers demanded
security, credibility, and a trustworthy platform which indicated that OBridge Platform
should ensure that every type of vacancy posting in the platform is real, safe, credible, and
not associated with the criminal activity/illegal jobs. Therefore, we believe that changes
should be made in the OBridge Platform to accommodate customer demand. What are those
changes?

Similar to other online platforms, OBridge Platform will create its own terms of use and
security & data policy. In terms of use, it will include a policy of:
1) users commitments which mean a commitment from applicants and employers
2) the permission that users give to us (OBridge Platform)
3) additional rights that OBridge Platform retain
4) vacancy removal and disabling or terminating users' account
5) users agreement

We (OBridge Platform) want to create a safe, trustworthy, and credible online environment
where every party involved treats each other with respect and helps each other succeed. Thus,
insecurity & policy, will include:
1) professional Community Policies
2) obligation
3) intellectual-property
4) page service limits
5) modification and termination
6) warranty disclaimers
7) limitation of liability
8) entity and dispute resolution
9) miscellaneous

In addition, we notice that our potential customers (applicant) recommend us to have skills
training and the provision of detailed information for them. so far, these are things that we
plan for our business model. In order to provide customers with training, OBridge Platform
will establish partnerships with local businesses, for example, Kampung Inggris for English
and language training, etc. The OBridge Platform will provide detailed information of the
designated country, employers as well as the vacancy.
