To intall the FTP erver component, do the following:

1. Open Control Panel.

2. Click on Program.
3. Under "Program and Feature," click the Turn Window feature on or o� link.

4. xpand the "Internet Information ervice" feature, and expand the FTP erver

6. Check the We Management Tool option with the default election, ut making

4. Doule-click the Internet Information ervice (II) Manager hortcut.

5. On the "Connection" pane, right-click ite, and elect the Add FTP ite option.

6. In the FTP ite name, tpe a hort decriptive name for the erver.
7. In the "Content Director" ection, under "Phical path," click the utton on the
right to locate the folder ou want to ue to tore our FTP file.
Quick Tip: It' recommended to create a folder in the root of the main tem drive,
or on an entirel di�erent hard drive. Otherwie, if ou et the home folder in one of
our default folder when adding multiple account, uer won't have permiion to
acce the folder. (You can adjut folder permiion, ut it' not recommended.)

8. Click the Next utton.

9. Ue the default inding etting election.
10. Check the tart FTP ite automaticall option.
11. In the "L" ection, check the No L option.

Important: In a uine environment or on an FTP erver that will hot enitive

data, it' et practice to configure the ite to require L to prevent tranmitting
data in clear text.
12. Click the Next utton.
13. In the "Authentication" ection, check the aic option.
14. In the "Authorization" ection, ue the drop-down menu, and elect pecified uer
option.
15. Tpe the email addre of our Window 10 account or local account name to allow
ourelf acce to the FTP erver.
16. Check the Read and Write option.

Configuring firewall rule

If ou're running the uilt-in firewall on Window 10, connection to the FTP erver will
e locked  default until ou manuall allow the ervice through, uing thee tep:

1. Open Window Defender ecurit Center.

2. Click on Firewall & network protection.
3. Click the Allow an app through firewall option.

Allowing external connection

To make our FTP erver reachale from the internet, ou alo need to open the
Tranmiion Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) port numer 21 on our router.

depending on the firmware verion. In the tep elow, we'll outline the general tep,
ut ou ma need to conult our manufacturer upport weite for pecific detail.

To forward port 21 to allow FTP connection outide of the local network, do the
following:

1. Open etting.
2. Click on Network & Internet.
3. Click on tatu.
4. Click the Change connection propertie option.

5. Make a note of the IPv4 DN erver addre, which i the addre of our router.
Uuall, it' private addre in the 192.168.x.x range. For intance, 192.168.1.1 or
192.168.2.1.

WAN, NAT, or Advanced etting page.)
10. Add a new rule to forward incoming connection to the FTP erver from the internet
 including thi information:
 ervice name: Tpe a decriptive name for the port forwarding rule.
 Port range: 21.
 Local IP: Thi i the FTP erver IP addre that the router will forward incoming
connection. (Thi i our IPv4 addre. ee tep No. 5.)
 Local port: 21.
 Protocol: TCP.

etting up a tatic IP addre

If ou're planning to tranfer file over the internet in the regular ai, then it'
recommended to configure a tatic IP addre to prevent having to reconfigure our
router in the future if our device' IP change.

1. Open Control Panel.

2. Click on Network and Internet.
3. Click on Network and haring Center.
4. In the left pane, click the Change adapter etting option.

5. Right-click the network adapter, and elect the Propertie option.

2. Click on Account.
