How To Install AfterCodecs
How To Install AfterCodecs
to CC 2019 (included) on Windows 7 / 8 / 10 and Mac OSX 10.10+, bringing you ProRes, H264, H265 & HAP
codecs for excellent quality and lightweight videos files.
Installation on Windows
Please skip step 1 with the given Installer .exe :
1. Copy the Autokroma AfterCodecs folder you can find inside Manual Installation AfterCodecs into this
folder : C:\Program Files\Adobe\Common\Plug-ins\7.0\MediaCore\
2. Now you have to license the plugins. On After Effects : open it up by going into the "Composition" top menu
and clicking "AfterCodecs Settings" (see screenshot) :
You can copy paste your AfterCodecs license(s) there and press "Activate". In fact you can copy paste here
any Autokroma license you have ! On OSX you cannot Paste with COMMAND+V so you can use the new
"Paste Clipboard" button or right-click -> Paste.
On PPro / AME you need to go into the export UI and select "AfterCodecs" and click the "Open AfterCodecs
Settings" button in the "Video" tab of all params in order to open this UI.
Et voilà ! You can now export new formats in your AE / AME render queues and in PPro "Export Media" UI.
Good to know :
The logging feature enable power users to read AfterCodecs render logs. On AE : If you have both video and audio,
temporary files will be written (suffixed .video.mov and .audio.wav) and there is an additional muxing step at the end
of the render. Please bear in mind that After Effects will prevent you from overwriting the final output file, but not
temporary ones. You can even stop the render at any time and the temporary rendered files will be fine, storing what
has been currently rendered. On PPro / AME : If you have audio, a temporary WAV file will be written (suffixed
.audio.wav).
