I. Introductory Concepts
Welcome to (TLE 6 – Agriculture) Self – Learning Activity Sheet 11 on
(Marketing Fruits and Seedlings)!
This activity sheet was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful

time. You will be enabled to process the contents of the learning material

Before we proceed to our new lesson today, let’s have a short recall about

B. LET US STUDY

Marketing is the process of buying and selling products and is essential in


the profitability of farm products like fruits and seedlings. A. Factors in
marketing in selling fruits and seedlings:
1. Market price – The price of the product depends on the current price in
the market.
2. Location of the market – selling price of fruits increases with an
addition of the cost of transportation.
3. Consumption period – fruits in the market are sold at different degrees of
ripeness depending on the customer’s intended purpose.
B. Ways of promoting and marketing your products:
Marketing is one of the most challenging activities in orchard gardening, one
of the first step in this undertaking is to make sure your products are marketable.
Once your products have undergone quality control inspection and are
deemed marketable, you may start promoting them.
• Conduct survey to find the needs of the community. What fruits are in
demand?
• Prepare and distribute pamphlet, flyers, and brochures containing
information about the location and the picture of products.
• Use online marketing tools.
• Post contact numbers for clients who want to order or inquire
about the product.
• Keeping a record of sales.
C. Marketing strategy used in selling
Regular evaluation of your marketing strategy is a good way to improve
your products as well as your income.
The following are the marketing strategies you can do to market your fruit
and seedling products:
1. Market selling – The process of buying and selling of farm product from
the producers to the costumers is called sales.
2. Online marketing – online marketing, also known as internet marketing, is
a marketing strategy that uses the internet, web, and email to introduce
product directly to the customers. The use of online marketing of orchard
trees/seedlings is the fastest way to market products nowadays.
3. Flyers or Brochures – are both form of advertisement using print media on
paper intended for distribution to a large audience.

D. Future plan for expansion


Whatever type of marketing strategy you will Use always help your
customer to know you and your business values that adds monetary value to
your products. Creating an attractive label for your product can be another
marketing strategy.
Every business should have a future plan for expansion. A successful
orchard is important to the community and environment. Its benefits stand as
evidence that expansion is necessary.
Tips for future expansion:
• Community survey and symposium to find the needs of the locality.
• Build relationship to stakeholders of the community, the local government
unit, schools, and private sectors who runs related business.
• Real market status understands the demand-what are the fruit
rate of sales?
• Open for investment and franchising.
• Availability of experience/skilled orchard technician.
E. Computing Sales and Profit
In planting trees, making and keeping records of expenses is important to
compute the total expenses incurred as well as the profits earned in gardening
especially if it is a livelihood activity. To find out whether you gain or lose in
your business, follow these steps.
1. List down all your expenses.
2. Subtract the expenses from the total amount of product sold. The remaining
amount is your profit.
