198. There was this interesting question recently:

Can you describe the state of enlightenment?
199. The state of being enlightened is when you
become one with the Divine.

200. Along the way to the ultimate goal there may be

many other goals, like peace of mind, liberation,
development of love and compassion, self-confidence
and clarity of mind. The important thing is to be
travelling in the right direction - centripetally towards
simplicity.

201. To achieve anything in life, whether worldly or

spiritual in nature, we must first simplify our
intention.
202. To know if an action is legitimate, make sure
that the following things are all in sync: Your
religious or ethical principles, the sacred and
philosophical texts you follow, Your Guide's
teachings, and Your own conscience. When these are
in agreement, an action is legitimate.

203. We create destiny for ourselves by our everyday

thoughts – our wishes, what attracts us and repels us,
our likes and dislikes.

204. When you realise the Godly nature of your

being, you become Godly. You become divine in
nature. But are you God?

205. To meditate well, you must have a well-rested

mind and heart. Physical rest is a must. A sleepy
mind and lethargic body will not take you anywhere.
If you are too sleepy to meditate when you wake up,
go for a jog or a walk or a swim, and meditate
afterwards.

206. As we nurture the subtle conditions bestowed

during meditation, over time they create a beautiful
environment.
207. The future is determined by the present, by how
we live now. It is what we do today that matters.

208. The heart’s inspirations are always in accord

with nature, which is love itself. The heart will never
lead you astray. Therefore, when living by the heart’s
inspirations, our actions become effortlessly and
automatically good.

209. An open heart is like a sun that shines for one

and all. It can do nothing but radiate it’s love. From
the open heart, love flows indiscriminately. An open
heart is love itself.

210. Meditation does not create anything at all.

Meditation reveals. What does it reveal? That which
is real, that which is authentic, that which is true.
Lies are created. Untruth is created. Reality can
never be created – it is as it is.

211. Meditation provides a level of insight that allows

us to appreciate situations for what they actually are.
This can save us years of time.
212. Life is all about acceptance. And when we learn
the art of accepting whatever comes, whether it is a
situation, a business outcome, or a partner, it is the
acceptance that makes it successful.

213. In spirituality and in life, we are proceeding

towards the unknown. So how can we have any
expectations about the next step? We cannot. When
expectations are dissolved, we accept things
completely, and then our heart is content.

214. A person whose tongue is cultured and polite

has a large, pure and noble heart. Be free of anger
and emotional outbursts in speech. The heart is so
tender that it begins to wilt even with the slightest
disturbance.

215. Sometimes we go backwards to move forward.

We make mistakes and learn from them, and that is
all part of the rich tapestry of the journey. Every
thought and every action contribute.

216. We often become trapped in loops of thought

that are not useful to our lives or the lives of others.
Therefore, we have to regulate the mind. We achieve
this by practising meditation. The object of
meditation determines the effect that our meditation
will have upon us.
217. Generosity of heart does not only mean giving. It
is not only about helping others. Real generosity is to
accept others opinions and differences without any
vengeful feelings.

218. As our lifestyle evolves, consciousness expands

and becomes subtler, to the extent that our ability to
design our own destiny becomes natural and
effortless.

219. We create our destiny, step-by-step, bit-by-bit,

through the journey of life. Every moment we make
choices that lead us in a certain direction – either
towards or away from our life’s purpose.

220. Reading has the ability to inspire and invoke our

craving for something deeper. When I was young, the
writings of Swami Vivekananda and several other
spiritual Masters touched my heart deeply, sparking
my quest for spirituality.

221. Our system of heartfulness is focused on

balancing both the spiritual and material worlds. We
must spiritualize our existence.

222. Acceptance is a cheerful thing. There is no such

thing as grudgingly acceptance. You are either
grudging or you are accepting. You can’t do both.
Acceptance is from the heart.
223. When we try to accept and make peace with the
world and make peace with ourselves, then we have
mastered our life.

224. Meditation ultimately brings you to your centre

and makes it palpable. You then have inner guidance
all the time, and it speaks to you, especially about
wrong things. About truth it may not speak at all
because truth is its nature.

225. When we pray for someone, for example, we

should see the impact of that simple prayer: it
ennobles someone’s life. In spirituality, every action
multiplies many folds.

226. It is not that meditation will give you everything,

but meditation done properly creates a condition and
that condition will change you.

227. When all individuals in an organisation do

better than their own best, then the organisation will
accordingly improve.

228. When I speak respectfully, or even if I say

nothing when I am quiet in a room, the way I sit, the
way I hold my head up conveys something to the
people I am meeting. Your looks convey something.

229. Love demands nothing. In love, there is no place

for expectation, but only for gratitude. That is why
love is the pinnacle of human nobility.
230. With any activity it’s our attitude that defines it
and determines its success.

231. Inner conscience is always the heart. Listen to

your heart.

232. Refer to your heart in everything.

233. Someone once asked me, “How to deal with

criticism and people who criticise all the time?”

234. Every ACTION we take leads to a REACTION.

It is through meditation that we pause and reflect.

but in our manners and in our lifestyle.

agreement between the mind and heart is required. A
synchronization, only possible through meditation
that eases our burden of existence.

241. Instead of responding to revenge with revenge,

or anger with anger, imagine the very instinctual
nature responding to such revenge and anger with
compassion and love.

242. Anything you do, good or bad, reflects on the

entire universe. In this consciousness, if you work,
and strive in your spiritual life, the world will
automatically become a better place.

243. A little discipline in how well you can sleep, how

deeply you can sleep, determines your daily state of
mind throughout the day. Your morning meditation
will be fine. You will not struggle with your
consciousness.

244. We face life as it comes and we move on like

that, and that’s how we build our destiny. Unlike
many others who run away from life, we face life
with courage and confidence.

245. When we harbour our thoughts and feelings in a

relationship, it can crumble and strain it. Iron out all
differences to keep your relationships healthy.

promotes courage. Courage promotes the state of
mind which helps you to make the right decision,
fast.

samskaras that accumulate in the heart, and the
tendencies and the emotional patterns that
accompany them can also be removed with sincere
efforts.

248. It is the love that you have in your heart that is

the input that stabilizes relationships. Love brings a
greater level of acceptance. It comes from a pure
heart; from a truthful, genuine heart.

249. Spirituality is not a path for the faint hearted.

Swami Vivekananda once said, “I need lions not
sheep.” Have you ever wondered why such a great
being said this? It is because every single moment we
must work on ourselves to refine our lifestyle.

250. Challenges in life prepare us to do something

greater.

251. We are moving towards perfection. Not in the

Grace. You feel that joy radiating from him.

262. An accepting heart heals all wounds.

263. Desires create problems; in fact the problems
they create are what prevent our evolution. Many of

do not have to think how to be good. It just happens.
Only lies require effort. Goodness comes naturally.
398. In life we have many duties. Whether it’s
towards an organization, our society or the nation; let
our heart innately respond to each one of them as
appropriate.

399. As we innately respond to our duties, let us be

responsive to our own need — to prepare, refine and
sensitize our heart and to bring our mind to rest,
which is accomplished through the sincere practice
of meditation.

400. The sincere practice of meditation allows us to

easily capture the waves of inspired creativity that
arise from the heart. We take advantage of those
inspirations to change ourselves and, ultimately, to
transform ourselves.

401. When we look upon others, let it be for the sake

of inspiration. This is the correct utilization of ego.
Competition is only healthy when it is against
oneself, where we attempt to continuously improve by
being better than we were the last time.

transformation into better individuals. It is then that
we are more responsive in our duties, to ourselves
and towards others, and discharge them with pointed
and charged effectiveness.

make me accept all that is.

407. In meditation, we start with thinking. We think

of Divine Light in our heart & regular practice helps
us develop constancy in the process of thinking. With
this constancy of thought we contemplate & meditate.
Slowly, thinking graduates into feeling. This is a
profound milestone.

408. In meditation, our overall condition and

situation creates the quality of the experience. The
quality of the heart directly amplifies or nullifies the
experiences we have.
409. The moment we open more of the heart,
experiences in meditation become multi-fold. This is
how the heart motivates us to develop the right
qualities and attitudes.

410. All the vital qualities of love, compassion and

surrender are intrinsic to the heart. When we start
focusing on becoming better, we have better
experiences. In essence, we ‘become’ by imbibing
those qualities within us.

411. The journey in meditation, starts with thinking,

which helps us feel, and that makes us realize that
becoming is the way. Our focus moves away from
experiences to becoming an embodiment of true
values and qualities.

412. We can forcibly try to open a flower bud and

make it bloom, or we let it open naturally by exposing
it to sunlight, and so it simply happens. The flowering
of the heart is even more fragile than the opening of
a flower bud.

413. Expectations act as a barrier to experience.

Expectations rob us of the gifts that Nature wants to
bestow upon us. When we expect, not only do we lose
the gift we were meant to receive but we also feel
disappointed and create doubt within ourselves.
414. Comparisons and expectations are partners in
crime and relentlessly play tricks with the mind. We
can overcome this through a simple solution:
attitude. The attitude with which we approach
meditation will determine the altitude we achieve.

415. The concept of surrender is widely

misunderstood. We do not surrender to someone or
something. Instead, every action done with love is
akin to surrender.

416. When we meditate with love, we naturally create

a state of surrender. In such a state, there are no
longer any worries about the experiences we receive.

417. When we meditate with love, meditation is no

longer a transaction with Divinity. We are open to
whatever needs to happen. The path is now the
destination and when the path becomes our
destination, we can consider ourselves to be
surrendered.

418. Only when we are ready to find, we will be able

to discover what lies beyond. Keep good thoughts in
your mind and have a blessed start to the day.

419. As we fix the goal, let us remain wilfully aware

of what the goal is all about. This is knowledge.
Becoming aware of the destination is Jnana Yoga,
the purposeful knowledge.
420. In the busy lives we lead, it’s important to reflect
on our actions if we intend to control our destiny.

421. As we use our helm (the heart) to steer our way

on the spiritual journey, our spiritual practice and
our determination help us remain busy in steering
this helm. That is Karma Yoga, our action in play.

422. Our goal is to appreciate what has been given to

us now, at this moment. Digest it and expand it.
When we are able to identify the condition, enliven it,
intensify and merge in it, we allow for our spiritual
progress.

THE INNER REALITY

which doesn’t factor in what is gained in giving, and

more than worship towards our Lord. Always

regain its natural flexibility and let go of its heavy
burden.

437. When we wake early and meditate, it gives us a

great start to the day with a contented, balanced
feeling inside. And if we can carry that inner state
with us out into our day, we will be able to handle
anything that is thrown at us, no matter how
challenging.

438. When the heart is right, there will always be an

unquestioning agreement between the mind and the

the base of consciousness; that consciousness is just
like a toy for children to play with. Through the
spiritual journey we expand into the realm where
consciousness assumes its true form.

Samadhi are all taken up simultaneously during the
course of meditation or dhyana.

460. From within our heart, we try to discriminate

between two things: whether something is right or
wrong, beneficial or non-beneficial, whether it is
going to help us to evolve spiritually or not.

461. The heart has become discriminative when it is

able to answer all these questions. How to develop
this capacity of discrimination? The more we listen to
the heart and obey its signals, the more we become
discriminative in life.

462. The heart will never misguide us. Only we can

misguide ourselves because of ego and because of
very strong desires. By removing these two, we will
have a heart that has the capacity of discrimination.”

says that though we start with akaar we end with
