Selling Partner API:-


 Provides Amazon selling partners programmatic access to their Amazon Seller Central account data.
 With SP-API, you can build applications that help sellers and vendors manage their Amazon business.
 Selling Partner API lets professional sellers connect certain applications with the selling functions in seller central
 The Selling Partner API (SP-API) is a REST-based API that helps Amazon selling partners programmatically access
their data on orders, shipments, payments and much more.
 Applications using the SP-API can increase selling efficiency, reduce labor requirements, and improve response
time to customers,
 Helping selling partners grow their businesses.

Amazon Seller Central:-


 Amazon Seller Central is the interface that is used by merchants to market and sell their products directly to
customers within the Amazon marketplace
 You can handle all of the tasks of shipping, customer service, and returns for the orders yourself or through a
third-party logistics provider (3PL) you choose

Key Features:
With the Selling Partner API, you can -
 Set up an OAuth authorization workflow that selling partners initiate from the Amazon Partner Network detail
page or from your own website.
 Generate an SDK that can help you with LWA token exchange and authentication.
 Test your applications by making calls to a sandbox environment.
 For every Selling Partner API there is a Swagger model, an API reference, and in some cases a use case guide.
Client libraries are also included to help with authenticating calls to Selling Partner APIs.

What are the key differences between MWS and SP-API?


 SP-API offers all Selling Partners and third-party developers a number of improvements over MWS, such as
modernized, JSON-based REST API design standards, OAuth2.0 selling partner authorization using Login with
Amazon, and a test endpoint - the most requested feature in MWS.
 In addition to all legacy functionality previously provided in MWS and new API capabilities for sellers, SP-API
supports the first ever APIs for
 Amazon Vendors – all through the same API control plane and authorization mechanisms.
 Going forward all net new API functionality will be built in SP-API, with updates to MWS only to support business
critical changes

Some of the new features of the Selling Partner API include:


 REST-based APIs with JSON-formatted input and output.
 New endpoints that are supported in all regions.
 Step-by-step instructions for automated SDK generation (see the Selling Partner API Developer Guide).
 A sandbox feature with separate sandbox endpoints for testing with mock data.
 A dynamic usage plan that automatically adjusts rate limits for each selling partner based on a variety of
measures.
 Support for Selling Partner API applications across all regions.
 Support for Restricted Data Tokens (RDTs), which help protect customers' Personally Identifiable Information
(PII).
New and updated Selling Partner APIs:
 A+ Content API – Enables selling partners to create and edit A+ content.
 Authorization API - Exchanges an existing MWS Auth Token with a Selling Partner API authorization code.
 Catalog Items API - Provides detailed information about the Amazon catalog.
 FBA Inbound Eligibility API - Checks ASIN eligibility for participation in Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) to avoid
creating inbound shipments for ineligible ASINs.
 FBA Inventory API - New and improved FBA inventory API with new features for FBA sellers.
 FBA Small and Light API - Supports the FBA Small and Light program.
 Messaging API - Enables selling partners to send supported message types to customers.
 Notifications API - Includes new notifications for branded item content changes, product type name changes,
MFN order status changes, and B2B offer changes.
 Pricing API - Gets product pricing and offer information
 Product Fees API - Gets estimated fees for a product.
 Sales API - Generate sales history reports.
 Services API - Enables service providers to get and modify their service orders.
 Shipping API - Provides programmatic access to Amazon's shipping services.
 Solicitations API - Enables selling partners to send non-critical solicitations to customers.

Amazon New Selling Partner API (SP-API) Replaces the MWS API :-

Why the change from Amazon MWS to the Selling Partner API?
 An API (application programming interface) is software that allows applications to talk to each other.
 In fact, Amazon has their own APIs.
 If you are selling on the marketplace, Amazon’s APIs enable your business applications to get the data they need
from Amazon.
 The new Selling Partner API reflects a modernization of MWS APIs.
 While MWS has performed well, the update to a modern approach will make it easier for Amazon Selling Partner
developers (i.e., third-party app developers and/or Marketplace sellers with in-house apps) to integrate the APIs
to allow their apps to directly access and extract Amazon store data.

Amazon is bringing its 10-year-old APIs up to date and it includes the following added features:
 JSON-based REST API design standards
 Improved security: their selling partner authentication (OAuth2.0) takes place with LWA (Login with Amazon)
 A sandbox for testing – the most requested feature in MWS.
 Plus, SP-API will support the first-ever APIs for Amazon Vendors. This means Amazon will be supporting Vendor
Central directly with the new API.

Amazon API updates: What’s changing?


 Amazon Selling Partner API (SP-API) is the new API that replaces the legacy Amazon MWS API (Amazon
Marketplace Web Service API).
 Starting September 2021, all new API functionality will be built in SP-API, with updates to Amazon MWS only to
support business-critical changes.
 Along with the API update, the Amazon MWS data hose will be turned off and stricter data use and protection
policies will be implemented.
 All these changes could affect the inventory, order, shipping, payment, and advertising data you use to manage
your business on Amazon.
