Glamorous Enigma
Plan of Investigation
The topic “Types of Human Trafficking" was chosen in an attempt to educate the public more
about this issue that is robbing society. It inspires me as a teenager who is vulnerable to this issue
to find ways in mitigating against the horrendous phenomenon.
As a student of English Language this research will benefit me in different ways such as
enhancing my: comprehension, verbal and writing skills.
With these skills I will become a critical thinker, write better sentences and improve vocabulary.
I intend to find information on the selected theme by retrieving: online videos, audios, poems
and newspaper articles.
Reflection 1
The audio is informative which elaborates on the types of human Trafficking where woman and
children are affected by this horrendous phenomenon, this audio show me that these types of
human trafficking varies with consequences which can damage someone’s life physically,
mentally and emotionally.
In the poem, “All over the world”, the writer expresses in the poem that trafficked people are led
by false promises and the victim’s attraction to those promises isn’t treated as promised. They
were enslaved into working for little to no pay. This poem has made a great impact on me as a
teenager who is vulnerable to issue in which it helps me to acknowledge the facts of human
trafficking.
The pictures display the different types of Human Trafficking and the other one show an
innocent young girl who is bounded and looks so fruitless and fearful. This picture shows me the
effect that trafficking has on people.
These artefacts are correlated to the theme “Human Trafficking” which enlightens on the fact
that Human Trafficking demolishes the freedom of people and kills innocents. The theme then
connects to the sub-theme “Types of Human Trafficking” where these are stated in one of my
artefact (audio).
My research has proven to me that all types of human trafficking have different consequences to
be faced which can kill an innocent person.
Reflection 2
In the poem “All Over The World”, written by Glamorous Enigma. The language techniques
used in this poem was descriptive language and formal register. The writer elaborates on victims
all around the world who are tricked by fake promises, this portraits an image where in the poem
it says that “When the children are the paedophiles victims”, in regards child abuse are
predominant. Formal register was used throughout the poem so that information could flow
expressively.
The picture reflects on both emotional and descriptive language. The picture displays pain and
sorrow because the girl in the picture hands was tied and her mouth was covered with tape, she
looked so sad and broken.
In the video formal register and descriptive language was also used where the person speaks
about the types human trafficking and give brief description of each and how victims of types of
trafficking are lured in the exploitation of false promises for a better life. Throughout the video
the person uses technical language, “human trafficking happens every day all over the world...”.
All the language techniques used are effective where each artefact reflects on descriptive
language in that each portrait an image for the viewers.
Reflection 3
A highly prevalent aspect of modern slavery is the crime of Human Trafficking. The purpose of
this research was to discover the causes of human trafficking and the impact it has on the life of
its victims. This research is significant because it allows us to gain and share information to
increase public awareness about this crime.
In the newspaper article “Rape horror continues”, written by Pandey who outlines the
circumstances under which a young adult became a victim of human trafficking. She further
stated that the stigma attached to the life of this young adult can be detrimental.
In the poem “Trafficked”, written by Deb who speaks about a person who has been used as an
object. She speaks of his or her surroundings and how he or she feels about it. The poem also
highlighted that the persona want to be rescued from all the pain and struggles.
Ms. Sandescu in her video “The causes of human trafficking”, highlights multiple causes that
leads to human trafficking. Lack of education, domestic violence and poverty just to name a few
are causes of human trafficking. The video also articulated that social causes are also a cause of
human trafficking. The challenges faced by our group members were extracting the artefacts that
were linked to our individual topic. However, the greatest was find the publication date of the
artefacts. We collected our data by surfing the net and watching YouTube videos. Our group
members research their artefacts individually and as a result some of the artefacts obtained were
not relevant to their topic but to someone else’s topic.
Based on the research done there were no biased perspectives found. Our group members
did not share resources or work co-operatively they found it easier and more beneficial by
working individually.
Human Trafficking has always existed in various forms but was not considered a serious
social problem until recently. Based on the extensive research done on Human Trafficking by
Ronald Weitzer it has concluded that of all types, sex trafficking is more prevalent and/or more
serious than labour trafficking. From this information gained it has confirmed our views that
human trafficking has always been in existence and is the hardest crime to combat because of the
magnitude of which it has grown worldwide. It was compelling from doing this research to find
out that some victims of human trafficking can still make something useful as well as become
someone successful despite the ordeal they faced as a victim. We recommend more individuals
continue this research in order to find a way to combat human trafficking.
Oral Presentation – Poem
Good Morning teacher and fellow classmates. My oral presentation speaks of a poem about
human trafficking and how it can greatly affect a person who is exposed to this issue, as you
would have figured out throughout my poem.
I chose to do a couplet poem because the rhyming of the stanzas throughout the poem helps me
to express my thoughts and feelings in writing. My inspiration of choosing a poem about Human
Trafficking is to inform others about this issue that is robbing society. It also inspires me as a
teenager who is young and vulnerable to this issue is to find ways to stop this horrendous
phenomenon that is affecting persons negatively. The articles that I have research helped to add
content to my poem where each portraits expression and relative information, in regards to
completing my poem successfully.
Formal register was used for my oral presentation because it uses technical language and it is
used in official settings, like this.
