Eeb2033/Edb2053 May 2022: Probability & Random Process: Credit Hours: 3 Unit

This document provides information for the Probability and Random Process course offered in May 2022. It will be a 3 credit hour course taught over 12 weeks on Mondays and Wednesdays. The course introduces concepts of probability, random variables, and random processes. Students will learn about various probability distributions and how to apply probability, estimation, and hypothesis testing to engineering problems. Evaluation will be based on tests, quizzes, labs, and a final exam. The goal is for students to understand probability concepts and Markov random processes and be able to apply them.

SYNOPSIS:
Students are introduced to the concept of probability and random variables for various forms of distributions
and their statistical properties. The course also covers random processes which deal with properties and
problem solutions of stationary Markov processes.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
1) Apply concepts and rules of probability such as conditional probability, independent events and Bayes’
Theorem in engineering problems.
2) Differentiate various forms of distributions for continuous/discrete random variables.
3) Apply Markov random process modeling in engineering problems.
4) Apply estimation theory and hypothesis testing in engineering problems.
