Railway Ticket Booking System Using QR Code

The current ticketing system of suburban railway system works manually


and is quite time consuming. People may carry android or oyster cards as
substitute, but if that is misplaced somehow or if anyone forgets to produce it at
the right place these are of no use. The main objective for this project is
developing an android application so that passengers can book the tickets online
directly from their smart phones and a received message to their own phones is
enough for travelling a desired distance. Thus the process of standing in lines to
book the tickets and after that carrying the tickets is curdled. This System
generates ticket in the form of QR Code, which can be checked by the ticket
checker directly through scanning the QR code. The User can’t just directly
register into the system; he should have an Aadhaar id to register.

Admin:

 Login: Admin can login his personal account.


 Add Aadhaar Card Detail: Admin can add users Aadhaar card detail,
including Aadhar Unique no., name, gender etc.
 View User: Admin can see user detail.
 View Booking: Admin can see all booking details.
 Logout: Admin can logout from his account.

User:

 Register: User need to register with his/her personal details.


 Login: User can login using valid username and password of his/her
personal account.
 Booking: User can book a railway ticket by selecting source and destination
and also can enter the count of people travelling with the user and book
their tickets too.
 Booking History: User can see previous booking details.
 Logout: User can logout from his personal account.
Ticket Checker:

 Set Station: Checker can set his station detail.


 Check Ticket: Checker can check user’s Ticket by scanning the ticket using
barcode scanner.

Software Requirements:

 Windows XP, Windows 7(ultimate, enterprise)


 Android Studio
 Visual Studio

Hardware Components:

 Processor – i3
 Hard Disk – 5 GB
 Memory – 1GB RAM
 Android Phone with Kitkat and higher
 QR Scanner

Advantages:

 Very easy and user friendly system.


 Ticket should be available without wasting time.
 Ticket should be check using scanning this should be advance technology
use in that system and also secure.
 Only register user and book a ticket.
 User can book one or more than one ticket at a time.
Disadvantages:

 Active internet connection required to book a ticket.


 User cannot cancel his booking.

Applications:

 This application can be used by any person who travel by train and wants to
avoid queues and book their ticket online.
