Sub; Erection of Temporary mast and Cantilever-Reg.

Temoorarv Mast Erection:

Temporary masts are very much required in oHE during BD restoration work. staff
should be well conversant in fixing the base plate, arranging the telescopic pieces, pivoting
of the mast bottom piece and the base prate, raising of the mast by pufiing with
tirfor/manila ropes and balancing of the mast to prevent it from toppling.
First, the base plate of the mast has to be fitted on the ground, by fixing spikes
with
the help of sledge hammer. Care should be taken to ensure the base plate is fixed in such
a
manner that the mast is raised along the track. Eix one adaptor at 5.3m from
the bottom
and another adapter at7.2m, to adjust the cantilever at convenient height.
Next, put the mast bottom piece in the base prate and provide a spike for hinge
action' Fix the mast pieces (Terescopic/ BFB type) in position. Tie 3/4', manira rope,
on four
sides, three for balancing the most and one for puling the mast upward. Appry purting
force
gradually with Tirfor, and lift the mast on hands to the possible extent.
After the mast
stands upright, bolt the temporary mast bottom piece to the mast base plate.
Divisions to arso keep ready the sreeper type temporary mast arrangement for
inserting sleepers (cut masts) under rails in case, track is washed out and
there is no
parent soil available for erection of temporary masts with spikes.
Holes may be drilled in
the sleeper to suit the existing holes on Temporary mast base plate. The length
of the cut
masts may be of different lengths to suit requirement of different implantations
at site.
Erection of cantilever
Place the cantilever assembly on the ground. Tie a 3/4,,manila rope at
centre of the
bracket assembly. First fasten the rope to the bracket tube, then leave
about 1 m roop and
tie the rope to the stay tube.
Next using the same rope fasten the stay and bracket tubes together using a
srip
knot' Put a farkona on top of the temporary mast and put a steer puley in the eye of the
farkona. Pass the manila rope end through the steel pulley, and slowly pull the rope in such
a manner that the insulators are at the bottom side. when bracket tube comes near the
bottom attachment of the temporary mast, put snap head pin, and couple the clevis and
insulator. Next release the slip knot duly holding the rope. Before going for provision of the
place
stay insulator, put top attachment for hook insulator in the stay insulator hook. Then
the top attachment for hook insulator, near the top adaptors holes and bolt it to the
adaptor.

The above T.c. is to be issued as soB and all supervisors and staff of oHE depots to
be counseled duly obtaining their acknowledgement after practical hands on training.
