Start Up Reaction Paper for Episode 1 - 4

Dal-mi’s parents got separated, her sister went with her mother while Dal-mi stayed with her
father. In marriage, love and feeling alone are not enough. Money caused a big problem for Dal-mi’s
family. Her mother was not contented with how much his husband has earned. Then one day, when
Dal-mi’s father decided to start his own business, Dal-mi’s mother was strongly against it. It is
frustrating, when the person you expected that will support you, is discouraging you. Starting a
business is a huge gamble. One must have 101% courage to step out of his comfort zone and start
building a business from scratch.
Utilizing your own skills and talents will lead you to success. Han Ji-Pyeong is a young
orphan who has the skills and talent when it comes to the field of business. Right after he won first
place in a virtual investment competition, he then searched for a place to stay. This is when he met
Dal-mi’s grandmother and gave him a place where he can stay. Achieving your goals and dreams
will make it feel less heavy when you have someone who 101% supports you. The path is not easy,
but when you are surrounded by people who keep on encouraging you, it will make you more
determined to be successful in your chosen career.
But life is playful. Few hours after Dal-mi’s father gained investors, a tragedy happened. He
was one step closer in properly starting his own business but unfortunately, he passed away. Life is
unfair and it will never be fair.
Managing a business is hard. When you fail, everyone will think that you are a fraud, but
when you succeed, they will call you a CEO. The business world is indeed frightening. There is no
such thing as like smooth start when you are building a business. You will fall and get hurt more than
a hundred times. Even if you wish to fall on top of the sand, you will still land on cold, hard ground.
That is the reality of building a business. After watching Start Up, I realized that those people with
strong connections and reputations will also have a rough start in building a company, but their path
is smoother than those people that have zero experience and no connections.
It is exhausting, frustrating, and it drains the soul in you when most of the people around you
are unsupportive and keeps on discouraging you. I can feel the pain that Nam Do-San felt when his
own parents do not believe in him that he will succeed someday. He is a genius, but he lacks
socialization skills. Even the luckiest ones get lost in their 20s. Life is not a race, but sometimes we
feel pressured when we clearly see and feel that there is no progress in our career.
No matter how good you are in the field of technology, even when you are skilled in the field
of Artificial Intelligence, but when you cannot market your product and encourage others to avail and
use it, your efforts might go to waste. Therefore, good socialization skill is really important. Let‘s be
honest, when a businessman introduces their product effectively, we will be encouraged to avail it
even though we do not need it. With that, one’s business will not fail as long as they are gaining
customers that will lead to more profit.
