Citations

I explored the formatting styles of APA and Chicago. APA style is used in by the social

sciences and behavioral sciences such as psychology and even in some humanities. While

Chicago style is used in books, journals, magazines, and newspaper publications. For a paper that

is written in APA there is title page that includes a running head with a shortened version of the

title, then in the center of the title page should be the full title of the paper, the person writing the

paper’s name, the school name and department, course name and number, professor’s name, and

due date of the paper. This paper format is also typically organized by abstract, main body, then

references.

For this citation it is in the order of authors, publication date, article title, publisher info.

Instead of authors, title, publisher info., date, database, and link. The order of the information in

the APA style is different than that of the MLA style. In the MLA citation the link is included in

the citation while in the APA one it is not. Another thing I noticed is that all of the authors are

listed out instead of just the main one. Their names are also only initialed for their first and

middle names with their last names being spelled fully.

For a Chicago style paper there is a title page that includes title, student name, course

information, and date. A superscript is placed after the quotation and then the references are

placed in the footnote or endnotes. The superscript directs you to the specific source.

This citation also lists all of the authors of the work other than just listing the main one then

et al. This citation does not include the database name like the MLA one does. This citation

includes the date of access. Lastly, although this particular source does not have a specific month

and date or show the city of publication, if these were known they would also be included in the

citation.
