Learning Competency:
1. Explain the properties of solids, liquids, and gases based on the particle nature of matter.(S8MT-IIIa-b-8)
For the directions: Just choose the letter of your response from the given choices.
25. Music 2 up for 3 seconds and then fade
26. TEACHER Are you ready? Listen very carefully.
BROADCASTER
1. What do you call anything that occupies space and has mass?
a. matterc. compound
b. atom d. molecule
b. because of gravity
But …If you did not get the correct one , worry not because this is our focus this afternoon
in our lesson.
29 Lesson PROPER (Segment 2) 5 minutes
Music 3 play background music)
30. TEACHER We are done with the warm up, you are now ready, Let us proceed to our lesson… May
BROADCASTER ask everyone to observe around you and cite examples of matter? What are the things
that surrounds you right now?
Another reason why solids have definite shape and volume is because, the bonds
between particles are strong enough that particles cannot move freely, and they can only
vibrate.
37. MUSIC 3 UP then fade
38. TEACHER Can solid change its shape?
BROADCASTER
Yes! Solid can only change its shape under great force as when broken or cut or when it
is heated.
39. MUSIC 3 UP then fade
40. TEACHER What are some of solids that you are using right now, if your answers are pen, cellphone,
BROADCASTER computer, and your paper then you are correct! Those are examples of solid.
41. MUSIC 3 UP then fade
42. TEACHER And now let us proceed to the second state of matter. what is the second state of matter?
BROADCASTER Yes, it is Liquid. Very good!
What are the characteristics of liquid? And how it is different from the solid state of
matter?
43. MUSIC 3 UP then fade
44. TEACHER In the liquid state, the particles are loosely packed and close together. The particles are
BROADCASTER arranged with no regular pattern, opposite of the solid particles.
If solid particles vibrates, the liquid particles collide and slide past each other. Because of
this, liquid is a fluid that only takes the shape of the container, which means liquid has
indefinite shape.
However, liquid has definite volume and only if the temperature and pressure are
constant. Meanwhile, liquid particles have weaker bonds compared to solid particles that
is why liquid particles are loosely packed unlike the solid particles.
45. MUSIC 3 UP then fade
46.TEACHER What are the examples of liquid?
BROADCASTER
If your answers are water, oil, vinegar, and alcohol you are correct! Those are examples
of liquid.
47. MUSIC 3 UP then fade
48 TEACHER Now let us discuss the third state of matter.
BROADCASTER Yes, you are correct it’s, Gas!
What are the characteristics of gas? And how it is different from solid and liquid?
49. MUSIC 3 UP then fade
50. TEACHER Comparing to solid and liquid, the particles of gas are far apart from one another and they
BROADCASTER are arranged in random pattern.
If solid particles vibrate and liquid particles slide past one another, the particles of gas
move freely and quickly because of this, gas conform to the shape of its container, and it
will also expand to completely fill the container.
For additional information about the differences of solid, liquid and gas, you can read the
page 3 of your science module.
And before we proceed with the last topic, please stay tune in to 98.1 FM Cristo Rey
Junior High Radio and we will be right back.

59TEACHER Welcome back to 98.1 FM Cristo Rey Junior High Radio, Ariiibaa! Cristoreyans.
BROADCASTER
A while back, we discussed the three states of matter and we differentiated them based
on:
A) Distance and arrangement of the particle
B) Motion of the particles
C) Shape and Volume
D) Bonds between particles
This means whether it is solid, liquid or gas, all their particles are invisible in our naked
eye.
62. MUSIC 3 UP FOR 3 SECONDS AND THEN FADE
63.TEACHER The second statement in the theory of matter is that, the particles of matter have spaces
BROADCASTER between them.
64. MUSIC 3 UP FOR 3 SECONDS AND THEN FADE
65. TEACHER The third statement states that particles are in constant motion.
BROADCASTER
MUSIC 3 UP FOR 3 SECONDS AND THEN FADE
Even if the particles of matter are invisible in our naked eye, they are still constantly
moving, but how can we prove that it is moving?
It is simple, to test get a glass of water and pour a pinch of black coffee powder, observe
what will happen to the color of the water ?
MUSIC 3 UP FOR 3 SECONDS AND THEN FADE
See, the water will start to become black right?
This proved that particles of water and coffee are really moving.
And the last statement is that there are forces in between particles.
Yes there is, a while ago, we had discussed the three states of matter based on the
bonds or force of attraction between particles. And you learned that, among the three
states of matter, solid has the strongest force of attraction between its particles and gas
has the weakest or no bond or force of attraction at all.
66. MUSIC 3 UP FOR 3 SECONDS AND THEN FADE
67. TEACHER What a very interesting lesson we have learned today.
BROADCASTER
Once again, I am teacher Rina, please stay tune in to 98.1 FM Cristo Rey Junior High

69. HOST Hi, Welcome Back to 98.1 FM Cristo Rey Junior High Radio. I am Teacher Chrisel your
host for this episode.
Before we assess what you have learned today, let us first visit the comment section of
our FB Live for some questions or queries of our learners if we have some.
70. HOST MUSIC 3 UP FOR 3 SECONDS AND THEN FADE
“Teacher Rina and the rest of the Grade 8 teachers are here to answer your queries”.
71. TEACHER I hope we answered all your questions.
BROADCASTER Okay, let us proceed to our quick assessment.
I am giving you few seconds, kindly prepare your pen and pencil and listen very carefully
to the following questions. Are you ready?
72. MUSIC 4 UP FOR 3 SECONDS AND THEN FADE
73. TEACHER Let us modify your activity in, Visualizing Concepts in your module
BROADCASTER
Write A- if the statement is solid, B- if it describe a liquid , C- IF it describe a gas, AB for
solid and gas , BC - if its liquid and gas and ABC if it describes the three states of matter.
Is that clear?
( MUSIC 5 clap)
What is your answer? If your answer is letter C… then you are correct, You got it
( MUSIC 5 clap)
( MUSIC 5 clap)

76. TEACHER You have learned the three states of matter and their characteristics. The particles theory
BROADCASTER of matter was also explained. Now let us relate the concepts in real life situations.
77. TEACHER If you were to choose a kind of relationship and comparing it with the different states of
BROADCASTER matter? What would it be? And which one do you think best describes the relationship?
78. TEACHER MUSIC 4 UP FOR 3 SECONDS AND THEN FADE
BROADCASTER
79. TEACHER Oh very good, the relationship we have with our family Solid.
BROADCASTER
80. MUSIC 4 UP FOR 3 SECONDS AND THEN FADE
81. TEACHER What about our relationship with our friends?
BROADCASTER MUSIC 4 UP FOR 3 SECONDS AND THEN FADE
82. TEACHER Very good…You are correct!
BROADCASTER MUSIC 4 UP FOR 3 SECONDS AND THEN FADE
83. TEACHER Congratulations to all of you my Dear learners.
BROADCASTER (music up/effects-clappings)
84. TEACHER Always remember like solid it has a compact characteristics, we do have a good, intact
BROADCASTER relationship with our fellow men and most of all your relationship to God … like the
particles in solid they are very closed to one another.
MUSIC 4 UP FOR 3 SECONDS AND THEN FADE
Likewise, in time of pandemic we tend to avoid having a contact with one another like
gases to get rid of virus… we must follow proper protocols.
85. TEACHER Congratulations!!! If you did not get it correctly then you can write the correct answers.
BROADCASTER (music up/effects-clappings)
86. TEACHER Remember all things can be classified as solid, liquid and gas.
BROADCASTER MUSIC 4 UP FOR 3 SECONDS AND THEN FADE
87. TEACHER This ends our discussion until next meeting
