Dear Rehanshi,
I hope this letter finds you in the best of your health. I never knew that the last time we
met in school would be our last moments that we would share. I have a very interesting
news to share with you and I am sure you would be I mixed emotions after listening to that
just like me.
Recently, Father got transferred to Delhi and I had to change my school. I must say that the
school life here is quite different than the Schools in Mumbai. Unlike Mumbai my school
here starts at 10:00a.m. which means I do not have to get up early. The school campus
resembles one like that of a Karan Johar movie. It’s huge. We are provided tiffin from the
school itself and the food is lip smacking. The teachers here are polite, and I do have an -
add on benefit of being the “New Child” here and so I am pampered here a little more. Our
principal ensures complete discipline in the school and to my surprise I see all the Students
out here following orders diligently. Lectures here are of 1Hour 30Mins and after every
class we get a 15Minute relaxation break. There is no concept of Homework in the school,
everything is done in class itself.
I am very happy to be a part of such a school and life here in Delhi seems exciting. But I am
equally missing my friends, my teachers who have nurtured me and made me what I am
today. The ones who were my support system in the prior school. I miss being with you and
I miss every moment that I would share with you at school.
If I write anything more, I will end up crying. Awaiting a reply from your end.
My regards to Uncle and Aunty.
Your’s lovingly,
Nikita Mulani.

The Municipal Commissioner

Dear Sir,
Time and again Government has taken measures to create awareness among the
educated/ uneducated class of the society on the repercussions of water waste. In spite
of a number of drives, there has been no change in the mind-set of the people and the
level of water waste has not gone down. People leave the taps open throughout the day
and the water just keeps on flowing.
On behalf of the ones affected due to lack of water in their houses I would like to suggest a
few measures that can be taken to save water and I would request the concerned
authorities to carefully consider these ways and if possible implement them as soon as
possible:
1. Leaking taps to be repaired immediately.
2. Turn taps off firmly, but avoid excessive force that may damage the tap washer and
cause the tap to leak.
3. Flow-controlled aerators for taps are inexpensive and can reduce water flow by 50%.
4. Garbage-disposal units use about 6 litres of water per day. Put suitable food scraps into
a composter or worm farm rather than down the kitchen sink.
5. Catch running water whilst waiting for it to warm up. Use it to water plants, rinse dishes,
or wash fruit and vegetables.
6. Imposing heavy fines on people found wasting water.
These are just a few measures that can be taken into consideration for now. I expect the
municipal commissioner to take immediate action as we all know that the level of
drinking water is decreasing rapidly and every drop matters. In anticipation of a quick and
positive response.
Thanking You
Your’s sincerely,
Nikita Mulani
