Changes
The following changes have been made to TL 52337: 2009-05:
– Standard changed to new layout
– Technical responsibility updated
– Section "Applicable documents" updated
– D marker removed
– Standard completely revised
1 Scope
This Technical Supply Specification (TL) defines requirements for sound insulation elements and
roof reinforcements that are intended for automated adhesive coating and subsequent automated
installation.
2 Designation
Designation example for a sound-insulating roof reinforcement of type E:

3 Requirements
3.2 Properties
The parts must be dimensionally stable and remain functional during transport and storage in the
temperature range from −40 °C to 100 °C, including under climatic conditions of 55 °C and 95%
relative humidity. Splitting into individual layers under these conditions is not permissible.
The molded parts must be impregnated uniformly and over the full surface area.
The surface finish must allow for an even coating with adhesive and must ensure a permanent ad‐
hesive bond with the body panel.
The surface to be coated must be uniformly smooth; apparent troughs are permitted within the lim‐
its of the drawing requirements.
Irritating impurities, emissions, surface coatings or fogging effects that impair the ability of the ad‐
hesive to adhere to the sound-insulating roof reinforcement and/or body are not permissible.
The individual layers (corrugating papers and liners) must be bonded together in a waterproof
manner.
Punch and cut edges must be clean and free of burrs and protected from moisture penetration;
brittle fracture is not permissible.
Deviations from the described requirements must be tested in the vehicle. Any deviations must be
documented on the drawing.

Dimensions and tolerances as per drawing
3.7 Conditioning
Before testing, the specimens must be conditioned in the VW 50554 – 23/50-2 standard climate for
at least 24 h.
