In the midst of the continuing public health emergency caused by Coronavirus Disease
2019 (COVID-19), it's equally critical to address the impending risks of additional natural and
human-caused hazards, to which all stakeholders must be prepared to respond. Several
earthquakes and other geological hazards have occurred in various places of the Philippines
as the country boosts its government-wide response to the current epidemic. While there have
been no reports of substantial damage or deaths, catastrophe risk reduction and
management activities must be prioritized and taken into account, given the Philippines'
inherent susceptibility to these dangers.
Despite the present scenario relating to CoViD-19 and pupils being at home, Pasong
Bangkal Elementary School held its National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill for the 4th quarter
on March 11, 2021 at roughly 9 a.m. Such activities must always be practiced and valued
because incidents might occur at any time.
In light of this, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, through the Office
of Civil Defense, provides alternative strategies in the conduct of the Nationwide Simultaneous
Earthquake Drill in order to ensure the continuity of its public services and adherence to the
minimum public health protocols and risk mitigation measures (NSED).
It's also spoken about how to make GO BAGS. What should be in the bag and what
shouldn't go in the bag for easy access when needed.
Furthermore, the instructors were emailed a link to observe some of the preventative
actions that should be taken during and after the earthquake. It would assist and advise
people in being prepared in the event of a calamity.
