annual tribute. He also started attacking Shivaji’s territory and harassing
the people.

Ans:Javali was covered with very thick forest. It was full of wild life. Morey’s
Javali was thus like a tiger’s hideout. No one therefore, crossed Morey’s
path.

the boundaries of Swaraj under Shivaji. Yeshwantrao’s army, too joined the

1) Describe the action taken against Khandoji and BajiGhorpade


AnsAdilshah incited Khandoji and Baji Ghorpade against Shivaji. Both of
them created a lot of trouble in the Kondana district. Shivaji defeated and
drove them out.

2) Show how,with Shivaji duty came first and relatives afterwards


Ans: When Sambhaji Mohite of Supe, a near relative of Shivaji started
plotting against Shivaji. Shivaji arrested him at Supe and banished him to
Karnatak.

3) What note did Shivaji send to Yeshwantrao Morey?


Ans: Shivaji sent a stiff note to Yeshwantrao Morey asking him to give up
Javali and his title of Raja. He asked him to give up Javali and come over
to his side and serve Swaraj. He told Morey that if he refused to do so, it
would be at the risk of his life.
