A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
Everybody, stand and let us pray. (The students will pray)
Nicole, kindly lead the prayer. Our Father, ...

Before you take your seat, kindly (Students arrange the chairs)
arrange your chair properly.
3. Checking of Attendance
Class, who are absent today? Ma'am, nobody is absent today.
Very Good, okay give five 5 claps (5 claps!)
to yourselves.
4. Reminders
Before we continue, I have some
important reminders,
1. Be ready and have your focus in
our discussion today.
2. Prepare in your desk a notebook
and pen.
3. Listen carefully while the teacher
is discussing in front.
4. Avoid unnecessary noise and
things to do in your seat while we
are having our discussion.
5. Participate in any activities that
we are going to do. Yes ma'am!
Class, did you understand?
Very well.

B. Preparatory Activities
1. Drills (Students will participate)

2. Review
Let us have a short review. about simplifying fractions
Class, what was our topic last
meeting?

So, how do we simplify fraction? numerator and denominator

Very good.
Let’s see. I have here some
example of fractions. All you
have to do is to simply each of
the given fraction.
Flashcards Activity
Direction. Simplify the given
fractions. 1. 1/5
1. 9/45 2 1/4
2. 3/12 3. 2/3
3. 10/15 4. 2/5
4. 14/35 5. 1/2
5. 2/4

3. Motivation
Class, I have here a scrambled
letters. I want you to arrange
the letters to form a meaningful
words. 1. WHOLE NUMBER

C. Developmental Activities
a. Presentation of the Lesson
Class, our lesson for today is all
about Multiplying a Fraction and a
Whole Number and Another
Fraction. (Students will read the problem.)
Everybody kindly read the word
problem.

Word Problem
Luna has 12 chocolates for her
snack. She gave 1/4 of her
chocolates to her friend Faye. How
many chocolates did Faye received?

Guided Questions: - How many chocolates did Faye

1. What is asked? received?
- 12 chocolates
2. What are given? 1/4 she gave to Faye
- Multiplication
3. What operation are we going to
use? - multiply 1/4×12 = N
4. How will you solve the problem?
5. What is the correct answer?

Valuing
If you were Luna, will you share
your favorite snack to your friends or Yes
classmates?

b. Performing the Activities

Class, we are going to answer
the problem through computation
and following the steps in
multiplying fraction by a whole
number.
Steps in multiplying fraction by a
whole number
1. Write the whole number as a
fraction with a denominator of 1.
2. Multiply the numerators.
3. Multiply the denominators.
4. Simplify, if needed. If your answer
is greater than 1, you may want to
write your answer as a mixed
number.

Class, to find the answer we are

going to multiply 1/4 by 12.
Solution:
1/4 × 12 = 1/4×12/1 = 12/4
12÷4= 3 Therefore, Faye received
3 chocolates. Yes ma'am!
Class, did you understand?
Very good, so let's proceed to the
steps in Multiplying fraction with
another fraction.

Steps on how to multiply fraction

with another fraction:
1. Multiply the top numbers (the
numerators).
2. Multiply the bottom numbers (the
denominators).
3. Simplify the fraction if needed.
For example:
2/3×1/2 = 2/6
Simplify:
2/6÷2/2= 1/3 Yes ma'am!
Okay class, did you understand?
Very good!

c. Processing the Activities

Let's have another example;
8×3/4 = 8/1×3/5 = 24/5
Simplify: 24÷5 = 4 4/5
Another example:
2/3×1\2×3/4 = 6/24
Simplify: 6/24÷6/6 = 1/4

d. Reinforcing the Concept and

Skills
Class, who will volunteer to
answer the following fractions?
Direction. Multiply the fractions.
Encircle the letter of the correct
answer. 1/3×4/6 = 4/18 ÷ 2/2 = 2/9
1.1/3×4/6
a. 5/9 b. 7/9 c. 2/9
4/1×6/8 = 24/8 = 24÷8 = 3
2. 4×6/8
a. 3 b. 3 ¼ c. 5 3/5×1/4×8/1 = 24/20 = 1 4/20÷4/4 = 1
3. 3/5×1/4×8 1/5
a. 3 1/5 b. 1 1/5 c. 6 1/5
5/18×12/1 = 60/18 = 60÷18 = 3
4. 5/18×12 6/18÷6/6 = 3 1/4
a. 3 1/4 b. 7 1/4 c. 5 1/4
3/6×2/3 = 6/18÷6/6 = 1/3
5. 3/6×2/3
a. 1/5 b. 1/4 c. 1/3

D. Summarizing the Lesson -Yes ma'am!

numerators).
Very well. How about the steps 2. Multiply the bottom numbers (the

another fractions? 3. Simplify the fraction if needed.
Very Good class! - Yes ma'am.

So, class are you ready for our next

activity?
Very well!

E. Applying to New and Other

Situations
Now, I will divide the class into 2
groups. Each group will have to
answer a word problem.
Direction. Multiply the given for each
problem. And answer the guided
questions to solve the problem.
Group 1
1. Ashley and four friends went
trick-or-treating. Each of them got
1/4 of a bag of treats. How many
bags of treats did they have in total?
Group 2
2. Pam baked some cupcakes for
her friends. She baked 24 cupcakes.
Each cupcake is 2/15 pound. If she
packed 6 cupcakes in each box what
is the weight of each box? Yes, ma'am.
- (students will have a varied answer)
Class are done?
So, how was your activity?
Very well.
Presentation: Each group will
choose
two representatives that will going
to present their output. During
presentation the other group will give
a rate to the group presenter. They
are going to rate each group through
thumbs up.
1 thumb up - if their answer is
near to the correct answer. -Yes ma'am.
2 thumbs up - if their answer is
correct.
Did you understand class?
Okay, then let's start the
presentation from group 1 and
followed by the next.
Okay class, since you all did well
with your activity. Let's give 5
claps to yourselves.

IV. Evaluation
Direction. Multiply the following
fractions. Reduce the answers to 5/48÷3/3 = 5/16
lowest terms whenever possible. 6/15÷3/3 = 2/5
36/1×2/9 = 72/9 or 8
1. 3/8×5/6 4/10÷2/2 = 2/5
2. 3/5×2/3 50/1×1/6 = 50/6 or 8 2/6÷2/2 or 8 1/3
3. 36×2/9
4. 4/5×1/2 Yes, Ma'am.
5. 50×1/6 (Submit their paper)

Class, are you done?

Okay, submit your paper. Then copy
your assignment.

V. Assignment
Direction. Multiply the given in each
problem. And answer the guided
questions.

1. Mother had 3 kg of flour. She used

2/3 of it to make cookies. How much
flour did she use to make the cookies.

2. Mayor has 20 prizes. He decided to

give 1/2 to the winners of the relay
game. How many of the prizes are for
the relay game.

Guided Questions

assignment?
Okay, please stand up and pick up (The students will pray)
the trash around your chair. Then Our Father, ...
arrange you chair properly. Goodbye ma'am!
Class, remain standing. Let us pray.
Maricar, kindly lead the prayer.
