What I Learned
Directions: Test your wits and complete the paragraphs below by sharing your
learnings from the previous discussions. Write your answers on the space
provided. (15 points)
These principles provide focus and help identify important issues and opportunities for further
research and analysis and should be considered. The research topic should be simple and specific
enough to complete it within a given time frame, given our limitations. To do this, you need to first
focus on your career path, strand, or discipline, and then remember the exact location, lesson, or
difficulty of your profession.
III. Apply
What Can I Do
A. Directions: Let us apply the five steps mentioned previously for you to arrive
on your specific research topic. Answer the following questions briefly.
Steps in Specifying The Research Topic Answer
1. Research Problem:
(What is your research problem?)
- Factors affecting the students’ mental health
2. Rationale:
(Why do you want to conduct this study?)
- The outbreak of COVID-19 affected almost every sector, including higher education
institutions across the world particularly Philippines’ educational system. For this
purpose, the researcher aimed to investigate the effects of COVID-19 on the academic
performance of STEM students and their level of satisfaction with online teaching. It
also explored the significant difference in academic performance of students along
with their satisfaction level with online teaching across gender. There were 15-30
respondents. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were employed. The
findings of the study revealed that COVID-19 has negatively affected the academic
performance of Afghan students and the students were highly dissatisfied with online
teaching during this critical moment. Besides, the study revealed significant
differences in the academic performance of students and their level of satisfaction
with online teaching. A strong positive correlation was found between the academic
performance of STEM students and their level of satisfaction with online teaching
during the COVID-
19 outbreak. According to the findings of the study, several implications and
recommendations have been provided.
