Introduction to the
Philosophy of the Human
Person
Quarter 2 – Module 8
Human Persons as Oriented
Towards Their Impending Death
Lesson 1: How does the reality of death define our
lives? What shall I do before I die? What makes me
happy?

WHAT’S NEW?
Activity 1. RELAX AND REFLECT
Moments Brought Me Joy
● When a typhoon hit our province, I know it was awful to
the point where we lost a source of electricity as a
result of what transpired. When we had no source of
electricity, I would only step outside and just stare at
the night sky and admire all the stars.
● Smoking. I know it sounds strange, but it makes me happy
when it has the potential to kill me.
● Taking psychedelic mushrooms. It made me more stoic than
before.
Moments Brought Me Sadness
● Every night, sadness can build up inside me, that's why I
take mushrooms.
● When someone gives me the love I don’t think I deserve.

● When I see someone sexier or fitter than me online, which

makes me feel so worthless because I see myself as a fat
one, this is also how I had my first experience of an
eating disorder.

WHAT’S MORE?
Activity 3: MY BUCKET LIST

Personal List of What I Wish to Do to Succeed

Be free
Make people believe that marijuana is a good thing and it
can make our Country richer than ever.
Split my tongue into two or three.
Get tattoos and piercings in every part of my body cause
it's fun to make the most of the present time and give
little thought to the future.
I don’t have the courage for suicide, so I’ll just wait
for someone to kill me.

a. Because I believe I’m a nihilist, and by that, I don’t need

to succeed because we’re all gonna die anyway. Despite this,
I’m still gonna try and live my best life, because when I die
I’m never coming back and I’ll never be able to live again, so
let’s make it count.
b. The first one. I have the power to make myself free or be
xed out of society.
c. The last one. Because we all know how hard it is to wait
right?

Lesson 2: Why do we suffer?

WHAT’S NEW?
Activity 1. SUFFERING IS…

The time I was in a very problematic situation until now

is thinking of my course. We know how poor our country
is. That's why some people migrate or work overseas and I
easily lose interest in things I do. One day I know what
3

I’ll pursue, the next day I lose interest in it. When I

also know what I’ll pursue I always think of the money
I’ll get from it, which is very low. Then I realized that
I’ll take a gap year after I finish this school year. By
that, I’ll focus more on my mental health while finding
things I’ll pursue or just find some rich guy that can
make me a housewife.

WHAT’S MORE?
Activity 2. TAKE AWAY, NO WAY
For me, genuine happiness and peace of mind are the
things that may be equated to life.

Activity 3. FROM ME TO YOU

For the one who suffers in situation 3, there's a subtle
difference between giving up and knowing when to stop.
Why not live the best of your life while your time is
flying away? Do something you love.

WHAT I CAN DO?

Nothing, I don’t want to be remembered. I want to be
forgotten. Actually, I’m not even planning on having a
child. I want everyone to erase all their memories from
me.
