It details that the CSV file must contain the same data and field structure as the corresponding form in Eramba. Why this Chapter is Important
When you start using Eramba, CSV imports can help you speed up the process of
populating the tool with data.

Preparing the CSV

The CSV import function is available in many different sections of Eramba. If the
function is available, you will notice “Import “under the top bar menu “Actions”.

When you click on Import you will be presented with two options - remember this
works the same way in any section.

● Download CSV Template - you will get an empty CSV file that includes in the
first row, the exact fields that need to be completed in order to successfully build
a compatible CSV file
● Submit an Import - upload the selected CSV file for verification, the actual
import takes place later once the verification is fully completed

Same Data the Form requires

The CSV import must be filled in with the exact same data you would use when using a
form. So the fields you need to create a Control using the “Add” are the same you will
need to complete using the CSV file
Upload, not Modify data
Eramba will not check if the data you are trying to upload via CSV import already exists.
So, if the format is correct, Eramba will create NEW items. You cannot use CSV imports
to “Update” existing data

Single Vs. Multiple Fields

Some fields in Eramba are drop-downs, and they accept more than one option. The way
to represent that in a CSV file is by using the | (pipe) character. Again, looking at the
example above, one or more users or groups can be included. You just need to provide
them as “User-1|User-2|User-4”

References
Some sections reference other sections, for example when you try to create an Internal
Control you need to provide Users, Policies, Etc. The way you reference these other
objects is by their name on their respective sections.

If you are trying to reference the policy “Hardening Standards” while creating an Internal
Control, then you need to use that exact string on your CSV import on the column
where policies are described.
Import Validation
When you complete the file there will be some instructions as to what is expected to be
filled in on every column - please follow these instructions carefully. Eramba will check
the content of your CSV file and warn you when things are not ok, for example:

● A mandatory field is empty

● Wrongly formatted dates

If a row has issues in some of its cells eramba won't let you import until you correct the
CSV and import it again. In many imports you will need to provide related items, for
example when importing Assets (Asset Management / Asset Identification) you may
optionally associate liabilities (Organisation / Liabilities) to them. To achieve this, the
CSV will require you to provide the name of the related liabilities.

If you provide a non-existing liability eramba will warn you with a RED message (see
above) and won't let you import the row. If you provide an item with a minor typo (let's
say the liability is called in the system “GDPR” and you write “GDDPR”) eramba will warn
you that it has found a very similar item and will proceed with that.
