A. Background Information for Learners

This lesson deals with getting information from various sources in everyday life.
Information, as available data everywhere, can be found in various platforms and
means such as news reports, speeches, informative talks and panel discussions,
among others. Getting information will basically expose you not only in pool of
information but should also help you identify which details are factual and not. You
are expected to identify certain details from different sources and use them in various
contexts.
B. Learning Competency with code
EN10LC-Ia-11.1: Use information from news reports, speeches, informative talks,
panel discussion, etc. in everyday conversations and exchanges.
C. Directions/ Instructions
The learners will answer all the activities given in this activity sheet using your big
notebook. Read the instruction carefully before doing each task. Finish the task at
hand before proceeding to the next. Asking for questions or clarifications about the
lesson was allowed through our official Group Chat. Submission of previous tasks not
yet submitted by the students will be channelled through the group chat
announcement page.

Learning Task 1: In your notebook, copy the statements below. Assess
yourself as to how you personally deal with information you encounter. Place a check
(/) in every statement that applies to you. (See learning module page 6.)
Learning Task 2. TRUE/FALSE Directions: Read each statement below carefully.

Write T if the statement is TRUE and F if the statement is FALSE. Write your answer
in your notebook.
1. Writing the news report requires answering the following questions: who, what,
when, where, why and how.
2. Using panel discussion will bring out not only excellent ideas but solution that
everybody will benefit.
3. Speech is a process to convince the audience of some message.
4. A fact is a thing that is known and a thing to be proven.
5. An accumulated information is always factual.

Learning Task 6: Give examples of sources of information based on the

classifications below. Write your answers in your notebook.
Learning Task 7: Get a copy of any news article written in English. Write and/or
paste it in your notebook. Then, provide an analysis on what significant information
are provided in the said article. Also, write a 5-sentence summary of the article.

Learning Task 8: Search and watch President Rodrigo Duterte’s 5th State of the
Nation delivered on July 27, 2020. Analyze and identify the important information
discussed in his SONA. SONA’s transcript which is available online may also be
used. Write your answers in your notebook.
