Given the chance to discuss a certain topic that weve tackled at the subject, understanding
the self, the topic that ill be choosing will be digital self. Personally, the impact of online
interaction, specifically, online classes to me is somehow a mix of positive and negative.
Being a extrovert person in this kind of set up is kinda hard because you dont get to
socialize with your friends and that may lead to out of determination and motivation. I
can say that i am learning more things and focused on Face-to-face classes than online
classes, which causes my grades to drop in this set up. I am not saying that online classes is
not effective nor efficient but in my case if i have the power to decide whether virtual
classes or face to face, i would rather choose face to face. Online classes' impact can also be
positive, in a way where students that doesnt have that much budget for daily expenses wont
have to go to school, because the transpo expenses also affects the budget of a family, as well
as the Printing Expenses and Food allowance.
Like what i've discussed on the first paragraph, there are a mix of advantages and
disadvantages in this kind of set up. lets start with the advantages. the very first
advantage of having this kind of set up is that the school expenses such as
transportation expenses, printing/photocopy expenses, food allowance and
miscellaneous fees will be deducted at the family budget for the month and the money
deducted can be allotted either for the necessities. while for the disadvantage, since its
an online or virtual class, you must need to have a device where you can take your
classes or a laptop. you also have buy loa for the data or have a wifi installed at your
house. you may have deducted the school expenses but you still have expenses to be faced
even online classes. another diadvantage is that, students wont get to see their
clasmates, teachers or even the school, that may affect their self esteem and lower their
social skills.

we are all affected by the pandemic and we have to adjust everything that we are doing by
performing it through the internet or virtually. According to lionel trilling, the
emergence of the internet adds a fourth domain, the online life to the social world.
there may be advantages and disadvantages, but we know for sure that we have to
continue our lives, despite the changes that we've experienced. it may be hard, but we have
to give it our best and adapt to the new normal. In my own perspective, i really find it
hard to study virtually, by just interacting with the class and the teachers through a
call, but as a teenager that really loves to use social media and my phone, its been easy
for me to adapt. so i am saluting those workers that has been fully adapted to this kind
of set up, despite their age and disabilities.
in my conclusion, the topic 'digital self' helped me to realize things that i really need
to know in this kind of set up, such as self-presentation, characteristics of social and
personal identity, what makes a person addicted to social media etc. i think that
knowing this kind of topics will help me as i go through my daily life, especially now
that i am learning and studying through online classes.
