Essential Job Functions:
Work in the Creative Resource Center as a Graphic Artist.
Duties include providing accurate creative designs and color correct or optimize
photos/art for ads published in daily and special sections for online, news pri
nt and glossy publications, proof and release pages for print. Download and plac
e puzzles for publications. Do electronic layouts for the placement of ads. Perf
orm Eps checks for accurate size and placement of ads for class and retail secti
ons of publications. Troubleshoot and fix any failures of ads in DPS Adtracker f
or outputting of publications.
Create and publish online Flash banner ads for the web, using Adobe Flash CS3 Pr
ofessional and Macromedia Flash 8.

Direct pre-press crew on day to day operations
Tone photos for all printed and online products using Adobe Photoshop CS, CS2, a
nd CS3. Using both Mac and Windows platforms.
Operate Macintosh for imposition and output pages.
Troubleshoot output problems, which will ensure on-time press starts.
Work with the Pre-press Manager and Regional Production Director in setting, im
plementing and monitoring of departmental standards to staff and provide general
direction to achieve effective results.
Ensure efficient work flow of internal and customer provided photos, art, and p
ages for printing in our core products and special sections. This includes every
thing from toning the photos to on- time plate deadlines.
Run the Page Imposer software, plate exposure unit, handle stripping when neede
d, film quality checking and perform routine preventive maintenance and calibrat
ion of all equipment.
Assist Regional Production Director and Pre-press Manager in obtaining the best
possible quality products and helps set and enforce quality standards. Monitors
print quality daily.
Assisted with inventory; supply-ordering controlling budgeted expenses and sch
eduling.
Assisted with evaluations, recommended pay changes, terminations and hiring.
Provide internal and external customers the best possible customer service.
React to change productively and handle all other essential tasks as assigned.

Accomplishments:
Brought the Midwest Newspapers to the top 4 in the Midwest. Graded by the Optim
um Quality Regional Midwest Committee in Des Moines IA.
Accomplished this by keeping equipment calibrated, film and plates calibrated an
d establishing correct toning standards. Completed courses at North Central Tech
nical College in Wausau for DreamweaverCS3, CS3 Professional Flash, CS3 Photosho
p and Adobe Illustrator 9 with a 4.0 grade point average.
