ABSTRACT:
• People usually run out of phone and laptop charging while travelling. At
such times there is literally no way of charging your phone laptop in an
outdoor environment.
• Well we hereby solve this problem with a green energy system using a
dual power generator solar plus wind energy charging system for mobile
phones and laptop.
• The system makes use of a battery to store the energy generated by both
the power generators. This battery supply is now connected through the
inverter for usage.
• The solar energy will be absorbed by the portable solar panel and the
wind energy is used by windmill to generate the power.
• The system is fitted with 4 wheels for ease of movement making it very
portable.
• Thus the system provides efficient mobile and laptop charging outdoors
with a whole lot of features.
INTRODUCTION:
• Wind Mills come in handy in the market today. Vertical-axis wind
turbine happens to be one of the most popular and widely available
wind turbines.
• As people are becoming more aware of the negative effect climate
change has towards our planet,Conservation of Natural energy
resources have been increasing in popularity.
• The wind is a clean, free, and readily available renewable energy
source. Each day, around the world, wind turbines are capturing the
wind’s power and converting it to electricity.
• Solar energy is a very reliable energy source as it is available in
every location in the world and is very dependent natural resources.
PROBLEM DEFINITION:
• As the sun moves its direction as the day goes so the solar panels
may not be facing the sun.
• This would cause the panels not to obtain the greatest amount of
sunlight possible, we decided to find a solution to this problem.
• We decided on implementing solar panels on both sides which faces
the direction of the sun.
• Energy generated from the wind power may not be sufficient due to
non-constant movement so, we needed a way of storing the energy.
• In order to store the energy we installed a battery that could help in
supplying the required amount of energy.
PROJECT OBJECTIVE:

• The main objective of our project is designing an green energy

charging station that operates on solar energy gained from the solar
panels and wind energy generated from wind mill attached without
the need of human effort or using fuel to run it.
• Our project will be relying on a dual power generation (solar and
wind energy charging system).
• Another aspect of our project is to be able to manage power
consumption using solar renewable energy and to store the power
gained in a chargeable battery.
LITERATURE REVIEW:
• As people are gaining more knowledge on the horrible effect fuel has
on our environment they are constantly searching for less harmful
alternatives. Renewable energy is one of the main sources that has
been becoming very popular and more commonly used now days.
People have been relying more and more on it as it doesn’t have a
negative impact on our environment such as greenhouse emission
which lead to air pollution. Solar energy is becoming one of the most
popular sources of renewable energy, it is being used in many
devices such as lamps, chargers and cookers.
• One of the many devices depending on solar power that is being
used more frequently is the solar power bicycle. As bicycles are
becoming a major form of transportation in many countries, solar
powered bicycles are becoming more in demand. Solar powered
bicycles depend on the renewable solar power energy and needs no
more effort used in pedaling the bike which makes it very
convenient for many people.
MAJOR COMPONENTS REQUIRED:
Device Name: Quantity:
• 1. 30watt 12volt Solar Panel. 02
• 2. 30watt 12 volt Dynamo. 01
• 3. 12volt 1.3Ah Battery. 01
• 4. Wind mill. 01
• 5. Trolley 01
MAJOR COMPONENTS DESCRIPTION:
1)30w 12v Solar Panel : Solar panels  (also known as "PV panels") are
used to convert light from the sun, which is composed of particles of
energy called "photons", into electricity that can be used
to power electrical loads.
COMPONENTS DESCRIPTION(CONT..):
2)12v 1.3Ah Battery : We used a 12v lead battery to power mobile and
PC charge. The 12v battery that we used is rechargeable so we can
charge it using the solar panel. We searched the market there were
many different types of batteries and may different brands. We
chose this specific battery because it was enough to power our
circuit and which fits under the panel were we had limited space to
mount the electrical components.
COMPONENTS DESCRIPTION(CONT..):
3)Electric dynamo: The electric dynamo uses rotating coils of wire and
magnetic fields to convert mechanical rotation into a pulsing direct
electric current through Faraday’s law of induction. A dynamo machine
consists of a stationary structure, called the  stator which provides a
constant  magnetic field, and a set of rotating windings called
the armature which turn within that field.
COMPONENTS DESCRIPTION(CONT..):
4)Inverter: An inverter provides an ac voltage from dc power
sources and is useful in powering electronics and electrical
equipment rated at the ac mains voltage. In addition they are
widely used in the switched mode power supplies inverting stages.
COMPONENTS DESCRIPTION(CONT..):
5)Wind mill: A windmill is a structure that converts wind power
into rotational energy by means of vanes called sails or blades.
WORKING PRINCIPLE:
Dual power generator is working on the principle of “LAW OF
CONSERVATION OF ENERGY”. In which the whole solar energy and
wind energy is used to charge the battery(12v) which in turn the
chemical energy from the battery is converted in to electrical energy to
charge the mobile phones.
DESIRED MODEL:
WORKING PROCESS:
• Firstly two solar panels which takes solar energy and convert it into
the electrical energy is stored in a battery and they are connected to
a inverter.
• Then a USB port will placed to the battery . With this USB port we
can use power for our mobile charging.
• Including solar panels, a wind mill also attached because in rainy
season there will be lack of solar energy. At that time we will use
wind mill for power generation.
• Battery and inverter unit position in project is mounted on table
made at the top of the trolley.
CALCULATIONS:
SOLAR PANEL:
 Solar Panel 1 : (30W/12V) = 2.5A
Solar Panel 2 : (30W/12V) = 2.5A
Current For Solar Panels Connected in Parallel:
I= I1+I2= 2.5+2.5 = 5A

WIND MILL:
 Theoretical Power Generation = ½ 𝜌𝐴𝑣2
= ½ × 1.23 × 0.16 × 103
  = 98.4W
Actual power generation = Theoretical Power Generation × Efficiency

nearly 30%)

( the efficiency of the wind mill is

=98.4 × 0.3
=29.52W
Current generated in Wind mill =(29.52W/12V) = 2.46A
Actual power generated by wind mill = 29.52W
Current produced in total (solar and wind) = 7.46A
BATTERY
P1=12Vx1.3=15.6 Wh
Charge time in full sun by solar panel = ( 𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑏𝑎𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑦 𝐴ℎ/𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑠𝑜𝑙𝑎𝑟 𝑝𝑎𝑛𝑛𝑒𝑙 𝐼)
=( 15.6/5 )
= 3.1 hours
Charge time for wind mill = ( 𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑏𝑎𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑦 𝐴ℎ/𝑤𝑖𝑛𝑑 𝑚𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝐼 )
=( 15.6/2.46)
= 6.34 hours
Charge time in Total (solar and wind) =( 𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑏𝑎𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑦 𝐴ℎ/𝑡𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑐𝑢𝑟𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝐼 )
=( 15.6/7.46)
= 2.09 hours
RESULTS:
1. Power generated by solar panels – 60W
2. Current generated by solar panels – 5A
3. Power generated by wind mill – 29.52W
4. Current generated by wind mill – 2.5A
5. Time required to charge the battery by solar panels – 3.1 hours
6. Time required to charge the battery by wind mill – 6.34 hours
7. Time required to charge the battery by (Solar and Wind) – 2.09 hours
