*Other materials may be cut - consult with the manager to find out if your material is allowed and
to help get goodhelp with appropriate settings for successful cutting.

You must complete an orientation before being allowed to use the Zund, even under supervision.
You must also be trained and certified before being allowed to Login to the Zund computer.

What to Bring
Your own blades and bits. Look to the Material Store in the Fabrication Shop for common knives
and bits. Consult with staff regarding the proper tools for your materials.
Material with enough extra for test cuts.
Blue Tape for extra hold down if needed.
Clean, well constructed files. Export to an illustrator .ai file. Look for templates on the DFL
resources site with layers: “Register”, “Frontside”, “Backside”, “Thru-cut”. Check policies and
consult with staff for limits and possiblities.
PREPARING TOOLS
Students are strongly encouraged to consult with staff about projects before you purchasing blades and materials
and scheduling time on the machine. After an initial consult, it is best to bring a sample file and material for advice
and review. Take these steps to achieve the best settings for a successful project. Broken blades due to small
radius cutting, incorrect settings and/or poor hold down due to not flat material will not be refunded. Blades left
behind will be claimed Digital Fabrication Lab.
