Adjustment of Extensions HIAB

The document provides instructions for adjusting and shimming extensions and jib adapters on various excavator models. It describes fitting slide pads, side supports, guides and shims to make extensions fit tightly and ensure they are set at the proper vertical angle of 90±0.2 degrees. The jib adapter is fitted and fixed plates, pins and screws are used to support it while shims minimize play. Adjustment screws are used to calibrate the angle based on an alignment tool.

Important!
Before assembly, make sure that the rear attachment shaft is set
horizontal. This shaft is also used to calibrate the extension alignment
tool. Make sure that the alignment tool is calibrated.

1. Fit the rear slide pads (1) in to the extension.

2. Fit the upper (2) and lower (3) rear side supports to the extension. Try
out with different thickness of the supports to make the extension to fit
as tight as possible. The thickness of the support should be equal on
both sides. The lower supports shall be 1-2 mm thinner than the upper
supports, to make it able to do adjustments according to step 5 in this
instruction.
3. Assemble and push in the extension until there is 1,7-2.0 m left. At the
same time, check if the rear side supports fits properly. If the play is to
great or to small, adjust by fitting supports that are matching.
4. Assemble the lower front slide pad (4) and the holder (5). Do not fit
shims at this moment.
5. Assemble the front adjustable side guides (6). Fit the extension
alignment tool close to the extension tip. Read on the alignment tool
and adjust the guide (6) to set the extension to 90° ± 0,2° in vertical.
Lock the adjustment screws with loctite 243. If a screw with a self
locking system is used, no loctite is needed. For extension -7 and -8
with side guide placed in centre of the profile, adjust according to step
10.
6. Assemble upper front slide pad (7). Shim with ½ shim on left or right
side. Slide pad and shim should be possible to fit without forcing. Use
shim of either 1 or 2 mm thickness. If more shim is needed, add also
shim (9) to the lower front slide pad. Please note that maximum one
shim on each upper and lower slide pad is allowed to fill the play and
to achieve correct angle.
7. Assemble the lower front side guide and shim to light fit. If there is
only one side guide, this action can not be carried out. Second boom
has an adjusable rear lower side guide that should be adjusted to light
fit.
8. Push the extension in, until it is fully retracted.
9. Observe the tightness, adjust if necessary.
10. Extension -7 and -8 is adjusted with ½ shim according to step 6.
The adjustable side guide in centre of the profile does not give the
proper adjustment of the angle. Tolerance: ± 0,5 degrees for these
two extensions.
