or read them? Why or why not?
2. Why is it important to be mindful of the statements we hear or we
read from someone else?
3. Can you provide an instance where you believed someone else’s
false statement? What was its effect on you?
D. Abstraction Delving Deeper
The teacher will be presenting the lesson; Critical Reading as Reasoning

What is Critical Reading?

Critical reading involves scrutinizing any information that you read or hear.
Critical reading means not easily believing information offered to you by a
text.

What is Reasoning?
Reasoning is an act of giving statements for justification and explanation. It
is the ability to defend something by giving out reasons.

Critical Reading as Reasoning

A critical reader is one who is able to look beyond the information he is
presented with. He does not easily fall victim to false statements as he verifies
information before he accepts them.
E. Application Fact or Fake

In this activity, each student will be tasked to answer whether a given

statement is fact or fake. They will then be asked to explain why their
answer is such as logically as possible.

1. If you don't share this post within today, something terrible will
happen to your family members!
2. Constant deforestation had proved to be detrimental to our
ecological balance. That is why we need to plant more trees!
3. Several studies show that getting at least a minimum of 6-8 hours a
day helps a person function better throughout the day as compared
to one who has not had enough rest.
4. I've heard of this wonder herbal oil from the radio that effectively
heals all sorts of diseases, even cancer! All you have to do is rub it on
the area where the disease lies. Buy it, it's very affordable!

Reflective Questions:
 Why is it important to be a critical reader?
 In what aspects of your life can you apply critical reading and
reasoning skills?
F. Assessment Let’s Try!

For the assessment, students will be answering the activity titled “TRY”
found on Page 3 of their Q3 Week 7 Reading and Writing CAPSLET. They
will be tasked to accomplish this during the Instructional Coaching Session.
