Directions: Answer the guide questions and compose a song or verses that describe teachers.
The emotional tone you set through your teachings, and the attention you pay to
the emotional well – being of your students are likely to be at least as important as the
teaching and learning methods you adopt and skills you develop. Anxious students
adopt over cautious strategies, fall back earlier, and cruder ways of seeing the world,
forget things and have trouble concentrating. Education depends upon emotion for the
motivation of learning and personal development. It is ow recognize that certain
emotional conditions are favorable to learning feelings and emotion conditions the
effectiveness and the amount of learning.
Learning in the classrooms can be better fascinated if thee learner practices with
satisfaction and if success crowns their efforts. Effective learning requires that
conditions be controlled so they will be satisfying. A wholehearted desire to learn will
make the practice more pleasurable and will consequently tend to strengthen the
reactions involved in the process of learning. Affective factors in the individual’s
experience influence the amount of his learning. Emotions, feelings, and attitudes
play many rules in the teacher’s teaching and in the learner’s learning.
They act as drives or motives in getting their work done. The teacher must bear in
mind that feelings and emotional reactions are internal parts of every learning
situation. They should be studied in relation to the part they play in learning. The
teacher must recognize that learning proceeds most effectively when students are not
emotionally disturbed. Teaching depends upon the emotions for the motivation of
learning.
It is necessary to act upon the knowledge that fear, and anger are handicaps to
effective learning. Fear of punishment should be replaced by more positive means of
motivation. The teacher can also make use of the emotion of fear to help the students
in the attainment of social virtues. Anger can be utilized to drive away fear in cases
where a student is overcome by fear to talk before a class or group of students.
However, the teacher should avoid derogatory remarks that may arouse anger. The
emotion of love can be utilized best in developing appreciation and proper attitude
toward things, places, or people.
Praise can also be utilized to best advantage in teaching, specially when it comes
from the person held in esteem by the learner.
2. Do you believe that every student is a potential genius?
I do believe that every student is a potential genius. That only problem is that we have
an expectation that every student should learn in the same way. Many of us have noted
that some students do not perform very well in school but tend to flourish in their work
environments or post school environments. The reason for this success often relates to
people finding their niche in the world or can exploit their intelligences. All of us are
wired differently. We tend to learn in different ways, and this is commonly referred to
multiple intelligences. Imagined if you had forced some of the best basketball players in
your school to pursue a career in mathematics. It is particularly important for teachers
and those responsible for education to have people rather than focus on their weaknesses.
We need to understand what the learner’s strength are.
A learning environment is a diverse platform where users engage and interact to learn
new skills. While learners can learn in an array of settings. The term refers to the more
preferred and accurate alternative to the traditional classroom. Developing an engaging
and positive learning environment for learners is one of the most creative aspects of
teaching. Typically, the focus is either on the physical learning environments like
lectures, theaters, classrooms, or labs, or on different that are used to develop online
learning environments. Social, physical, psychological, or cultural factors involved in a
learning environment deeply affect learner’s learning capabilities.
If the learning atmosphere is not conductive to gaining new knowledge or skills, it will
be hard for learners to remain engrossed or interested. Stress scientifically affect the
cognitive functioning. When you combine stress with learning processes, the negative
thoughts outweigh the positive ones. Learners like me find the learning environment
more like a threat to our self – esteem than a platform to improve or learn new skills. To
overcome and prevent such, the instructors held the responsibility to incorporate an
arsenal of strategies that would inoculate learners against the negative attitude by
providing enough positive experiences.
When a learner feels appreciated, accepted see and him her as an important and
contributing part of a learning environment only then he she improves learn with an open
mind, accept, and appreciate viewpoints and solve problems earnestly. A learning
environment is a great attribute to the success of the learner. It offers a positive ambiance
to feel motivated and engaged. An ideal learning setting encourages the interaction with
learners’ instructions and eventually establishes a sense of support.
Bullying refers to aggressive behavior to dominate, the other person. It refers to the
coercion of power over others so that one individual can dominate others. It is an act that
is not one time, instead, it keeps on repeating over frequent intervals. No, you would not
automatically become a bully. However, being surrounded by them could make you
become somewhat like them. We are influenced heavily by the people around us. If you
do not want to become a bully, be polite when you interact with them but not too
friendly. Keep them at a distance but be careful not to give off a negative vibe. Not to
them and not to other people. Watch your body language. Try not to appear judgmental.
Make a very conscious effort to not be influenced by them. Do not let yourself get played
by society. In other words, define YOU. You have an obligation to live how your heart,
conscience, and mind tells you to. Unless you are completely out of control of your
senses then you know right from wrong. Use your common sense about the decisions you
make in life. It is the duty for adults, parents, teachers to constantly preach the young
people about not bullying anyone and that it is wrong. Hence, if we, as a society needs to
grow and develop then we must collectively work towards discouraging the act of
bullying and hence young people feel secure.
Among the many factors affecting a student’s learning – from the curriculum, classroom
size, the school’s environment, the student’s school surrounding and the students home life – the
teacher is the most critical. Their effectiveness as educators correlates the most to a student’s
success in school, even in later life.
Many of student’s perspective pictures the life of a teacher as easy peasy – that it is no
sweat job, that all the work they do is “lecture” a little and “sermon” a lot, sit down in the most
comfortable chair in the classroom because ‘us’ students have to do the school tasks
“independently”.
But behind a teacher’s sermon and lectures is a person who finds their job both rewarding
and exhausting. The work is beyond tiresome. It can get them physically sick at times. But at the
end of each lesson they give us, at the end of every semester they guide us, at the end of each
school year only one thing is all that matters to them: the reward of being able to help your
students to be the best they can be. To greatly affect not only a student’s learning foundation but
to also to leave great impact to their life.
With great perseverance a teacher has dedicated to becoming one, as a former student
who knows every sleepless night just to get every assignments, projects and requirements get
done a good teacher was made. With the abundant amount of love, care, and sense of
responsibility a teacher gives
What makes a good teacher great? What makes a great learning environment?
If you are Rolando Ramos, I say you are a great teacher. An extremely strict and
hardheaded teacher who will push you to go beyond your limit. A teacher who will aspire
you to dream big dreams but will also remind you that behind those big dreams must be a
person who is ready to perspire blood, sweat and tears for it.
I was first stunned by a guest speaker at an English Festival contest. I was in
fourth grade that time. I was chosen to be the representative of our school at English Quiz
Bee. I was not paying attention, which a normal kid usually did to what the emcee is
talking about not until the guest speaker started to speak. I was at awe by how he speaks
he is very fluent in speaking the language, he is very articulate in uttering the words he
speaks that makes his accent very cool. But as a child what caught my attention the most
is his peculiar way of dressing up – he is wearing black from the top to bottom even the
shoes that he wears is black and he wears this cape that made him look like a dracula
character out from a movie.
It was years later that I came to know this man. He is a department head from the
university that I study in right now. He really is a good teacher, a speaker who caught the
busy mind of a fourth grader by the way he speaks, and dress too.
I was in high school when I met the man who changed me – my dream course, the
way I learn, the way I do things, even my penmanship was changed when I start writing
for campus newspaper which he spearheaded. Every student in the school respects him
for being a great teacher. He made learning an interesting one. He has this way of
keeping every student’s ear on him, keeping us entertained and encouraged at the same
time. Everybody can teach but not everyone can leave a great lesson that will impact a
student’s life.
Joining the campus journalism made me a whole new different person. Writing
for the school paper is very overwhelming yet it is a great responsibility to be mindful of
every word you are about to write that is what he taught not only me but to everyone in
the team. Now, though I did not have a chance to pursue the dream of being a writer or a
journalist. I am happy, though not as happy, and proud as our adviser, to see my
teammates pursue it in a prestigious university in Manila. When our teacher said dream
big, they dreamed it. They aspired to get it and as of the writing they are top students
from their school.
Teachers have an important responsibility of shaping the lives of young,
impressionable students. With this responsibility comes great pride and joy. All the
teachers who helps build the foundation of tomorrow are all good teachers. The fact of
giving his students everyday encouragement to keep going even though the path is rough
makes him a good teacher. A teacher who can touched a student’s life and lead him to the
right path is a great one.
