1. Assume that all the energy released on the fission of x grams of natural uranium is captured for use. How many KW.hr of energy
can be obtained from this x grams of natural uranium?

2. A nuclear plant with a rating of 800 MW uses U235 and has a thermal efficiency of x%. It is expected that y% of the U235 contained
in the original fuel will be consumed during the first year of operation. Calculate the initial fuel requirement in tons.

3. A BWR Nuclear Power Plant uses natural uranium with 0.7% U235, estimate the quantity of natural uranium required annually if only

10. A BWR Nuclear Power Plant generates steam at 2 MPa, D and S. It is used to drive a turbine with exhaust at 100 KPa and over-
all efficiency of 88%. The fuel used is x % enriched Uranium. If only y % of the fuel is depleted annually with 60 % neutron loss,
estimate the quantity of natural uranium required annually for a z MW plant?

KJ/kg). Assuming no subcooling of condensate, determine the effective length of y mm outside diameter tube with z mm thickness to
be installed if the water velocity inside the tubes is 1.22 m/s and U = 3000 W/m2 K based on the external surfaces of the tubes.
