    Seminar on Gender and Development Related Laws
    And 1st Quarterly Meeting of VPAs
    March 22, 2022

    Volunteer Probation Assistant (VPA) is a program of the Parole and Probation


    Administration (PPA) aimed at generating maximum, effective and efficient citizen
    participation and community involvement in the process of client’s rehabilitation,
    prevention of crime and the overall administration of criminal justice.

    The objectives of probation supervision are to carry out the conditions set forth in
    the probation order, to ascertain whether the probationer is following said conditions,
    and to bring about the rehabilitation of the probationer and his reintegration into the
    community.

    Hence, in order to equip volunteers with the skills and other relevant knowledge
    relative to the proper dealing certain situations, the Tandag City Parole and Probation
    Office held a Seminar on Restorative Justice and Disaster Preparedness for Clients and
    Volunteer Probation Assistants on July 19, 2021, which was actively attended by thirty
    (30) participants that comprised of five clients, Probationers and Parolees, and 25
    Volunteer Assistants.

    The highly interesting topic of Restorative Justice and Practices were in parted
    with PPO II Rajive Elape, Patrick Calamba, and the undersigned. Participants
    positively shared their thought and immanent expertise considering that some of them
    belong to a local tribe in the Province of Surigao del Sur.
