CALA CONTEXT

Covid-19 has become a dangerous name since 2019. Millions of people have been infected and thousands of people have lost their lives due to the
worldwide ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It is of utmost importance to identify the future infected cases and the virus spread rate for advance preparation.
Accurately forecasting the spread of COVID-19 is an analytical and challenging real-world problem to the research community. There is successive rise and
fall in the COVID-19 cases in schools throughout the year.

CALA
The CALA has two parts A and B which you are supposed to complete.

PART A

 Research on previous cases in and around your school since 2019.


 Design a questionnaire which you will use to collect data about people who have been infected by the virus before and those who have been in
contact with infected people
 Collect data of the numbers of people infected by the virus noting the time of the year they were infected.
 In your report include interviews, record notes, use ICT tools, take pictures and make recordings of the data obtained.

PART B

Using the information in part A

 Plot a time series graph for the information you have collected
 Analyse and comment on the general trend shown by the data you collected
 Identify and comment on the pattern shown by the data
 Comment on the relationship between the number of people infected and the time of year they got infected
 Predict the number of cases in the second quarter of 2022 and 2023

HOW YOU WILL BE ASSESSED

 To assess your presentation the teacher will consider your research materials, explanations about your graphic illustration that you have designed
 An Achievement Standard specific to this CALA will be provided so that you are aware of the assessment criteria.

 Prepare a questionnaire that you are going to use in your research [4]
 Distribute questionnaires to gather data to find the number of infected people during different periods of the year[3]
 Record information and make notes on the responses given [2]
 Make graphic illustrations on the information you have gathered and draw the trend line [7]
