The purpose of this Job Method Statement is to establish a safe work method for removing contaminated
gravel and filling of new gravels onto T-5008 area at Dialog Terminals Langsat (1) or DTL1.

Date of work : 23rd June 2021


Location : T-5008
Description : Removing contaminated gravel and filling of new gravels.

- Permit-to-Work (PTW) shall be applied by PIC and the hard copy permit will be displayed in
the workplace
- Upon PTW approval, site safety personnel shall conduct safety tool box talk and pre task
meeting for the day's work with all the workers at site
- The work area shall be barricaded with warning tape (red/white) and warning signage shall be
clearly posted to avoid any unauthorized entry.

2.2 Mobilization Tools and Material.


 Jumbo bags – units
 Shovel – units
 Hoe – units
 Hand tools – spanner ….
 Wheel barrow – 1 unit
 Wooden pallet – units

2.3 Clearing of contaminated gravel


 Manually clear out contaminated gravel using shovel into jumbo bags / drums.
 Ensure to use proper PPE (e.g., nitrile gloves) to prevent contact with Fuel Oil.
 Use absorbent pads to clear out oil remnant, if any.
 All jumbo bags / drums to be located near bund wall to ease lifting activity.

2.4 Filling up the area with new gravel


 Once the area is free of oil remnant, inform Operations team for verification of the site
condition.
 After Operations team has given greenlight to fill new gravels, mobilize lorry with new
gravels.
 Jumbo bags containing new gravels will be carried manually from the lorry into the tank farm.
 Manually fill the area with new gravels.
 At the same time, jumbo bags with contaminated gravels will be transferred onto the lorry.
 These contaminated gravels will be transferred to the terminal’s Storage Area for Scheduled
Waste (SASW)
 Inform Operations team after filling up the area with new gravel. If required, top-up the
gravels.

2.5 Lifting out drums from inside tank farm


 Contractor shall inform 2 days prior for crane arrangement.
 25tonne crane will be arranged for this activity.
 Crane will be inspected HSSEQ team before entering site.
 Wooden pallets to be arranged by contractor outside the bund wall.
 Barricade the area where lifting takes place. Place safety cones.
 Drums in the tank farm will be lifted out and placed on top of these wooden pallets.
 Secure drums before transferring using fork lift to terminal’s SASW.

2.6 Site Housekeeping Work


 De-mobilization of tools / equipment.

3. SAFETY PRECAUTION
a. Pre-briefing shall be conducted at site before performed manual lifting activity to ensure
all personnel understand their role.
b. Workers should always wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Wear gloves and
long sleeve shirts for forearm protection when lifting items that have sharp or rough edges.
Protect your vision with safety goggles. When lifting items that are very heavy, you
should wear steel-toed safety shoes or boots to protect your feet and toes.
c. Use proper lifting techniques: bend at your hips and knees to squat down to your load,
keep it close to your body, and straighten your legs to lift.
d. Buddy system - When moving materials manually, workers should work together for a
helping hand.

5. ACCESS AND EGRESS ROUTE


All workers shall use:
i. Security Post 2 for entry and exit for DTL1
ii. Vehicle shall use Security Post 1

For this activity, only activities on ground shall be done.
