FITTING THE PACKINGS

Fitting the Packing

Ensuring a leak-tight packing with long-lasting service life first To fit the rings:
requires selecting the correct packing for the application. It is 1. Slide the first ring to the bottom of the box using a tool of

clearance at the cut when assembling packings that stretch
appreciably under compression, or when packing certain
inadequately cooled stuffing boxes. This clearance will vary
with shaft diameter.

Confidence and Choice
Dependable sealing from reliable, durable gaskets is crucial in
protecting the crew, the marine environment, and shipboard
AMERINE™ CFR JOINTING
equipment from the potential hazards associated with leaking pipes
and pump casings. Drew Marine’s sheet jointings are designed to
provide this reliability, with a selection that allows you to choose
what works best for your vessel.

Constructed using the most current technologies and materials,

our three AMERINE jointing products cover the full range of typical
shipboard gasketing applications. Substituting man-made fibers,
selected for their health and safety benefits, each is manufactured
in the same manner as compressed asbestos, which was the long-
time industry standard. Our products have the same compressibility
and density. However, they also have more advanced properties,
including greater recoverability, and none of the hazards associated
with asbestos.

For certain general-service applications, some operators prefer

jointings made from familiar materials that have been traditionally
used. Look to Drew Marine to deliver cost-effective, conventional
jointings featuring the best-quality materials for each construction.
