TLE 2 (Activity 2)
1. Industrial Arts
Industrial arts is a program that teaches students how to make objects out of
wood or metal using a variety of hand, power, and machine tools. Technology
Education is another term for Industrial Arts. The project's purpose was to help kids
become more technologically literate.

a. carpentry

Cutting, shaping, and installing building materials during the construction of

buildings, ships, timber bridges, concrete form work, and other structures is the
fundamental task of this specialized trade. It is cutting, forming, and putting wood parts
together, as well as sculpting and constructing structural woodwork.
Types of Carpentry Work:
 Rough carpentry
 Trim carpentry
 Ship carpentry
 Framer
 Roofer

b. metal works
Working with metals to make specific parts, assemblies, or large-scale
structures. The process of creating and shaping metals to make usable tools, items,
equipment parts, and structure is known as metalworking.

Examples of Metal works:

 Dining utensils
 Metal sword
 Ritualistic object

c. plumbing
Installing faucets, pipelines, and other equipment to transmit and provide water in
buildings; removing and releasing waste water, liquids, and gases; and ensuring the
health and safety of people and property.
5 main types of plumbing pipes
 PVC pipes
 PEX pipes
 ABS pipes
 Coper pipes
 Cast Iron and Galvanized Steel Pipes
2 types of plumbing
 Supply pipes or service pipes
 Drain pipes or waste disposal pipes
3 types of plumbing system
 Potable plumbing system – bringing in water into a building
 Sanitary plumbing system – removing all the human wastage and
wastewater.
 Stormwater plumbing system – it is the removal of rainwater from the
building

d. electrical

e. electronics
It studies the flow and control of electrons in a vacuum or semiconductor.
Electronics is also a field that study the electronic devices and their applications.

f. orthographic, drawing/CAD
An orthographic drawing represents a three-dimensional object using several
two-dimensional views of the object. It is also known as an orthographic projection. For
example, you can see in this image the front, top and side views of an aircraft.

2 different styles
 First-angle projection – shown as if the viewer is looking through the
object and projecting the image on the other side.
 Third-angle projection – each view is created as if the object is projecting
an image away from itself onto a plane in front of it.

3 sub-types of orthographic
 Isometric projection – three axes of space appear equally foreshortened
 Dimetric projection –  the attendant scale and angles of presentation are
determined according to the angle of viewing
 Trimetric projection – three axes of space appear unequally foreshortened

2. Home Economics

It is all about home management. Enables pupils to examine challenges, develop

individual talent, and improve practical and decision-making abilities in order to make
knowledgeable and suitable decisions in the future.

a. food, health, and nutrition

Learning to cook healthy, balanced meals for themselves and others is a

huge step toward encouraging children to be self-sufficient and take charge of
their health. They also taught about food safety and how to cook food in a
healthy manner to avoid disease.

 Food preservation

Different ways of food preservation

- drying

- salting

- processing

b. personal finance and family resources

Learning how to manage money effectively is an important element of
Home Economics. Students learn how to spend money for food and other
necessities.
Management of Family Resource
 Identfying the family resources and needs
Types of family resource
-Human resource (Knowledge, time, energy)
-Non-human resource (Money, Material goods)
 Allocates budget for basic and social needs

c. textile and clothing

Prepares students towards self-reliance in creativity and artistic skills.
 tools and materials according to their use ( measuring, cutting,
sewing)
5 Basic sewing tool
-measuring tool
-cutting tool
-marking tool
-hand and machine
- pressuring tool

d. consumer science
Consumer science aims to highlight the several ways that families and
individuals can improve their overall well-being. This contains ideas about how
people's relationships with corporations, government, and the environment
affect their daily lives. It focuses on household financial decisions, nutrition,
parenthood, and education.

e. household management
The numerous duties and chores involved with a home's organization,
financial management, and day-to-day operations. Effective home
management helps you keep things organized around the house.

4 steps in home management

 Planning
 Organizing
 Controlling
 Evaluation

f. human development
There are three ways to look at the impact of human development content
in preservice education for home economics teachers:
(1) as subject matter to be taught;
(2) as those concepts of development which teachers need to know in
order to plan, teach, and evaluate educational experiences for their students;
and
(3) as a means by which students can gain a better understanding of their
own behavior and attitudes and the behavior and at titudes of others.
