I. Introduction

Education of a significant number of students has been disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the
Department of Education worked hard to introduce distance and blended learning tools so that students would continue
learning even while inside their homes, for many families, coping with the various challenges under the new setup has
been very difficult and stressful.

Among the most common issues faced by families is the lack of a reliable internet connection. Parents have also
become the tutors of their children at home. So apart from dealing with their challenges at work, they also have to struggle
with the additional burden of educating their children.

For the first time since the pandemic began in March 2020, select schools in areas deemed low risk for COVID-19
in the Philippines started limited face-to-face classes. It sparked hope for those learners who are struggling brought by
digital divide and other related challenges.

The Aplaya National High School recently underwent a location risk assessment and school safety assessment and
has received approval from the Department of Education and Department of Health to conduct face-to-face classes. This
affirms that our school is compliant with the minimum public health standards set by the government. Extensive planning
and preparation were conducted to ensure a safe and welcoming re-entry of the students.

II. Highlights of Accomplishment

SDO Validation of the Preparation for the Limited Face-to-face classes

This activity aims to further develop strategies, understand key considerations of the SDO, the school and stakeholders,
and identify resources required for the effective and efficient transition of learners from distance learning to expanded
face-to-face classes.

ANHS Parents’ Orientation on the Implementation of Limited Face-to-face classes

This activity highlighted that the limited f2f classes is a shared responsibility and commitment of the school, the parents,
and the community. An assurance that students will be safe inside the school due to compliance in the health protocol and
safety measures was noted. Moreover, tis will address difficulties of learners in learning independently through pure
distance learning and lack of access to technology and household resources.

ANHS Implementation of Limited Face-to-face classes

Aplaya National High School is consistent in its efforts to eradicate the gap between the school and students’ education
that is why the school continues to accept the challenge to conduct limited face-to-face classes and devise new methods,
maintains effective strategies, and considers student’s preference and conditions as regard to factors that may affect their
learning. With these factors in mind, the institution aims to provide a conducive learning setup during this time of
pandemic.

On March 7, 2021, ANHS has opened its gates for the 15 students from Grade 10 and 18 students form Grade 12 for the
conduct of the limited f2f classes. After extensive planning and preparation, the opening of classes was a success.
Monitoring and evaluation by Ma’am Soledad Baylon, Ma’am Severa Salamat and Sir Kenrick Villanueva noted several
strong points of the school and was recommended for the expansion of the limited f2f, by creating one class per level.
