Quarter 2nd
DAILY LESSON LOG and Time 1:00 – 2:00

I. OBJECTIVE ACTIVITIES

A. Content Standard The learner demonstrates key concepts of linear inequalities in two
variables, systems of linear inequalities in two variables and linear
functions.

B. Performance Standard The learner is able to formulate and solve accurately real-life
problems involving linear inequalities in two variables, systems of
linear inequalities in two variables, and linear functions.

C. Learning Competency Transform a statement into an equivalent if-then statement.

M8GE-IIf-2

Identify the hypothesis and conclusions of if-then and other types of

statement.
Determine the hypothesis and conclusion clause in if-then and other
types of statement.
a. Avoid irrational thinking.
II. CONTENT
CONDITIONAL STATEMENT

III. LEARNING RESOURCES

IV. PROCEDURES

A. Reviewing previous lesson or

presenting new lesson
“Mahal kita Game”
Mechanics:
1. Everyone must have their own chair except for “TAYA”.
2. TAYA asked her chosen classmate to answer the question “Mahal
mo ba ako”.
(follow instruction.)
TAYA If chosen classmate Then other
answered… classmate must.
Mahal mo ba ako? Oo Everyone must find
or go to other chair
as their new sit.
Mahal mo ba ako? Hindi.. kasi mahal Only those student
Bakit? ko lang ang _____. who had that must
find another chair.
e.g. hindi kasi mahal Then only those
ko lang ang student who wear
nakawhite na white socks will
medyas.. change their sits.
3. TAYA must find his/her chair while his other classmate are
looking for other chair.
4. 3x who became TAYA will be (consequence to be agreed upon by
all before the game).

B. Establishing purpose of the lesson Take some answer during the game like:
Mahal ko lang ang nakawhite na medyas;
Mahal ko lang ang may suot na relo.

Those are just the condition.

What do you mean by condition?
Thus TAYA ask us to go to other chair? Those condition will tell us
whether you go to other chair or not. That is what we called the
hypothesis and conclusion.
C. Presenting examples/instances of Conditional Statement
the new lesson Composed of hypothesis clause and conclusion claus.
IF -> Hypothesis (p)
Example:
If you are 15 yrs. old...
If you go outside at night…
If you get a boyfriend at early age…
(ask the learner to give their own example)
THEN -> Conclusion (q)
… then you are a minor.
… then someone might abuse your weakness.
… then you can’t focus on your study
(ask the learner to give their own example)
D. Discussing new concepts and Write the possible conclusion (q) on second statement based on the
practicing new skills # 1 first statement.
1. a. Students who are good in Mathematics are smart.
1. b. If Jeremy is good in mathematics, then _________.
2. a. Young actresses are, health conscious.
2. b. If Yeng is a young actress, then ______.
3. a. Two points determine a line.
3. b. if there are two then it will ______.
4. a. Parallel lines do not intersect.
4. b. If line m and line n are parallel lines then they ______.
E. Discussing new concepts and There are some statement that are not written in if-then form but still
practicing new skills # 2 we can change this into if then form by determining the hypothesis
and conclusion of the given statement. Try this…
Example.
1. A student must study.
Hypothesis: If a person is a student.
Conclusion: Then he/she must study
2. Clean ocean is blue.
Hypothesis: If it is a______
Conclusion: then its color is _______.
3. All angle measures 90 degree is a right angle.
Hyphothesis: If an __________.
Conclusion: then it ___________.
4. If x=5, then x2=25
Hypothesis:
Conclusion:
5. All right angles are congruent.
Hypothesis:
Conclusion:
F. Developing mastery (Formative Write p if the underlined word is a hypothesis and q if it is
Assessment) conclusion.

1. Red cross volunteers are busy during calamities

2. An 18 year-old Filipino can cast his/her vote during election.

3. All right angles are congruent.

4. Three non-collinear points determine a plane.

5. Perpendicular lines are intersecting lines.

G. Finding practical applications of Supply the missing statements.

concepts and skills in daily living 1. If you listen ___________.
2. _____________, then you will get good score.
3. If you finished study, then ___________.
4. _____________ then you will be happy.
5. If you help your parents, ___________.
H. Making generalizations and 1. An if then or conditional statement is composed of two
abstractions about the lesson clasues; the if clause and the then clause.
2. We can denote a letter for each clause, p for the if clause and
q for the then clause. The statement is in the form “if p then
q” p->q.
3. Conditional statements are formed by joining two clauses p
and q using the words if and then.
4. The p clause is called the hypothesis and the q clause is
called the conclusion.

I. Evaluating learning Direction: Underline the hypothesis and encircle the conclusion
clause.

1. If you are a good citizens, then you obey rules and

regulations.
2. If you are Filipino, then you are God fearing people.
3. If the sum of two angles is 90 degree, then they are
complementary angles.
4. A triangle is a polygon with 3 sides.
5. A quadrilateral has 4 sides.

J. Additional activities for application Complete the statement.
