RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research design
In this study, the approach that was utilized by the researchers was correlational
method. It is the design used by the researchers. This method is chosen in order to gather
information and assess statistical relationship. This is to determine if there is a
relationship between the two variables and its sub variables such as AM or PM time
scheduled preference. The two variables that included here are the independent and
dependent variables. Independent variable is the variable that control over and
manipulate, it is also called causal variable. While the dependent variable is to responds
to the independent variable. In this study the independent variable is the effect of
schedule preference, while the dependent variable is the performance.
Research settings
The chosen area of this study is in Our Lady of Fatima University, located at
Ezperanza St. Largo, Hilltop Subdivision, and Quezon City. This area is the most
accessible and relevant for the researchers because the subjects are always available for
the time of the survey and the researcher will not wasting time. Also, for the safety of the
respondents and researchers.
Research subject
The respondents in this study were the students of Our Lady Of Fatima
University, they were associated of grade 12 student in the academic strand of
Humanities and Social Science, it consist of male and female respondents. The sampling
technique was utilized is the Systematic Random Sampling it is type of probability
sampling in which researchers sets the desired sample and the size of the population is
25
Research Ethics
The anonymity of the subject was assured in this study, the researcher will
undertake the confidentiality and privacy of the subject. Also it will be secured. Other
than that, the researchers will provide enough time to answer the survey and the
researchers will not force the subject to answer the survey form. Researchers assure that
no one will harm in conducting this study.
The title and idea of this research was based on the creativity of the researchers’
mind. All of the information that was gathered by the researcher are cited properly.
Research Instruments
The instrument used in the study was a researcher-made questionnaire that gathers
the profile of the respondents. The draft of the questionnaire is based on the researchers
readings, hypothesis, and collected studies in relation to the students observations and
experience about the schedule preferences in school. In the preparation of the instrument,
the requirements in the designing of good data collection were considered. Open-ended
options were formulated to accommodate free formatted answers of the respondents. The
instrument is authorized to obtain valid responses of the students.
Validation of data
To establish the reliability of the questionnaire, the researchers ask for the
guidance of their research professor who is an expert and knowledgeable to ensure the
validity of the test. Since the study conducted was a primary research, the researchers
made the questionnaire themselves and a re-test happened where critical examination of
every item was assessed by a professor of psychology at Our Lady of Fatima University
to determine whether the content measured its relevancy to the study. The researcher
make sure that each item inserted in the questionnaire has a purpose to answer the
problems within the study. Thus, the answers made by the respondents from the
questionnaire was assessed with statistical treatment to ensure the accuracy of the results.
Even though the respondent are students, to respect and for the prerogative of the
respondents the researchers chose to keep their anonymity and confidentiality. The
26
medium used in the questionnaire is English language and it is in the form of likert scale.
The title of the research was not mentioned during the survey so the answers of the
respondents will remain objective and consistent.
