Building Construction and Management (2) : 19ARCH11C

The document discusses doors and their components. It describes doors as solid barriers fixed in walls or partitions used to access buildings and spaces. It then defines key door components such as the door frame, door leaf, rails, stiles, mullions, hinges, casing/architrave. Doors are classified according to their leaf fixation/movement and design/construction. The document serves as a lecture on doors for an architectural engineering course at the British University in Egypt.

Flush Doors

 Used internally rather than externally

Internal and external faces are plain and flat

faces

The stability of the this type of doors depend

mainly on the flush facing and its core.

The lighter and thinner the core, the more the

facing should be thicker and of better quality to
provide stability.
