c. Checking of assignment (if there’s any, let a

student to discuss it) - Passing their assignment through email.
A.) Reviewing Previous Lesson or Presenting New
Lesson

Review on the concept of Linear Function

A linear function is defined by the f (x) =mx + b,

where m & b is any real number; m is a slope & b is
the y-intercept.

The teacher will discuss that the function f is linear

function if the highest degree of x is one and the
graph shows a straight line.

The teacher illustrates Cartesian plane through …..The students are attentively listening.
the use of a Geometer’s Sketchpad.

The teacher will introduce and illustrates the

Cartesian Plane, the x and y axis, and the point of
origin which is 0.

The teacher will also discuss that the x-values are

the domain and the y-values are the range.

The teacher added that in an ordered pair(x,y),

the x is the abscissa and y is the ordinate and this
will be used for plotting.

B.) Establish a Purpose of the Lesson

The teacher will state the objective.

-to Graph a linear function’s (a) domain; (b) range;

(c) table of values, (d) intercepts; and (e) slope.

C.) Presenting Examples/Instances of the Lesson

The teacher will draw the Cartesian plane and show

example.
1. The students will answer “the slope (m) is 2 and
Ex. 1. y=2x + 1 the y-intercept (y) is 1.

2. y=3x – 5 2. The students will answer “the slope (m) is 3 and

the y-intercept (y) is –5.
-the teacher will ask to identify the slope, the y-
intercept.
D.) Discussing New Concepts/Practicing New Skills

The teacher will discuss the steps in plotting the

ordered pair or the points. The steps are…

In example #1. y=2x + 1 The students pay attention and actively respond
the discussion.
1. Make a table, the x-y table and assign value of x if
possible from -3 to +3.

x -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3

y -5 -3 -1 1 3 5 7

2. Find the value of y in terms of x since y is

dependent to the values of x.

a. rewrite the function and substitute the

value of x which is -3,the first column.

y=2x +1

y = 2 (-3) + 1

y=-6+1

y = -5,

Fill–in the table the value of y under -3 in the first

column.

b. rewrite the function and substitute the

value of x which is -2.

y=2x +1

y = 2 (-2) + 1

y=-4+1

y = -3,

Fill –in the table in value of y under -2.

c. rewrite the function and substitute the

value of x which is -1.

y=2x +1

y = 2 (-1) + 1

y=-2+1
y = -1,

Fill–in the table the value of y under -1.

d. rewrite the function and substitute the value

of x which is 0.

y=2x +1

y = 2 (0) + 1

y=0+1

y=1

Fill–in the table the value of y under 0.

e. rewrite the function and substitute the value

of x which is 1.

y=2x +1

y = 2 (1) + 1

y=2+1

y=3
- (Students are attentively listening.)
Fill–in the table the value of y under 1.

f. rewrite the function and substitute the value

of x which is 2.

y=2x +1

y = 2 (2) + 1

y=4+1

y=5

Fill–in the table the value of y under 2.

g. rewrite the function and substitute the

value of x which is 3.

y=2x +1

y = 2 (3) + 1

y=6+1

y=7

Fill–in the table the value of y under 3.

The teacher will also discuss that the x-values are

the domain and the y-values are the range.

In an ordered pair(x, y), the x is the abscissa and y

is the ordinate. This is used for plotting.

In plotting the points in the Cartesian Plane, the

teacher let the students pair the values; the x and y
value.

G.) Finding Practical Application of Concepts and

Skills in Daily Living

The teacher will give the students opportunities to

demonstrate their understanding by sharing it on The students will voluntarily share situations that
the class. domain, and range, the rising and falling of slope
are applied in real life situation (covid cases will
H.) Making Generalization about the Lesson be the example).

The teacher will ask their own understanding on

the term being discussed (a) domain; (b) range;
(c) table of values;
Guide questions:
*How did they understand the word Domain,
The students will answer that the x-values are the
Range and table of values?
domain and the y-values are the range.
*Differentiate Domain to Range-In making a table
The students added that in an ordered pair(x, y),
what steps to be considered?
the x is the abscissa and y is the ordinate and this
will be used for plotting.

The students will said that the steps are

#1 Make a table, the x-y table and assign value of

x if possible from -3 to +3.

#2 Find the value of y in terms of x since y is

dependent to the values of x.

#3 Write the function and substitute the values of

x which from -3 to +3, from the first column to the
last column.

*How will you plot the points?

The students will answer that to plot points;
pair the x-y values from the table, draw a
Cartesian Plane, the x axis in horizontal and y axis
in vertical, and the point of origin which is 0 and
plot the points.

*When can you determine that the slope is

increasing/decreasing? The students answer that if the slope is positive
it is increasing and if it is negative it is decreasing.
I.) Evaluating Learning

The teacher will share the application for making a The students used geometer’s sketchpad for
graph. graphing. They identify the domain, the range, the
slope.
And let them graph the f(x) let them identify the
domain the range, the slope and the y-intercept. They draw a Cartesian plane or the x-y plane.

f(x)= 2x-5

J.) Additional Activities or Assignment

Provide take home activity/ additional activity as

remediation for those students that need
enrichments/ help.
The teacher will give an activity for the students
to answer.
Activity
Let them graph the f(x), identify the domain the
range, the slope and the y-intercept.
