RCC Assignment 2

The document provides instructions for an assignment on designing reinforced concrete structures. It includes 3 problems to solve: 1) design the reinforcement for a simply supported beam, 2) design a one-way slab, and 3) design a two-way slab under different support conditions. Tables with material properties and live loads are also provided for reference in solving the problems.

CV251 Design of RCC Structures

Assignment-II

Solve the following problems. Any missing data can be suitably assumed.

• Adopt the grade of concrete and grade of steel for all the problems as those given
for your respective register number (Refer Table in the next page)
• In the statement for problem one, X stands for the last three digits of your
Institute Roll number. ee. If your Roll.No 191CV234, then X=234.

1) Design the flexural and shear reinforcement of simply supported beam of effective
span 5m, subjected to a factored load of X/N kN/m. Width of the beam may be
assumed as 300mm. (N=2 for CV1 students) (N=4.75 for CV2 students)

2) A simply supported one-way slab is to be designed for the following particulars:

Slab is supported by masonry walls 300mm thick. Clear span between walls is 4m.
For live load on the slab, Refer Table next page. Load due to floor finish is 1 kN/m2.
Design the slab and sketch the reinforcement details.

3) A two-way slab has an effective size of 4m x 6m. Refer Table in the next page for the
characteristic live load acting on the slab. Load due to floor finish is 1 kN/m2. Design
the slab and sketch the reinforcement details if,
(a) Slab is simply supported on all sides and corners are free to lift.
(b) The slab is an interior panel.
